North Korean Families Plead for Defectors to Return
Duration : 123 Seconds

For more news visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com or Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Four of the 31 North Koreans who had crossed the sea border to the South have expressed their wish to defect to the South. But their families in North Korea are pleaing for their return, likely under pressure from authorities in the North. Families of four North Koreans who said they want to defect to the South have made emotional appeals for their kin to return home. The appeals were made in videos aired on a website operated by the North's propaganda agency. [Rim Young-ok, Wife of Defector Ok Sung-hyeok]: "I'm torn up as my husband and brother-in-law are detained in South Korea and cannot return home for more than a month." Four of the 31 North Koreans had drifted across a tensely guarded sea border between the two Koreas and have expressed their wish to defect. South Korea says they will not be sent back when the rest are repatriated on Friday. Such defections tend to anger the North, a tightly controlled society that restricts movement of people and flow of information. Those claimed in the video to be relatives, are believed to be at risk of their own lives in the suppressed North Korean society if their family members defect. They expressed their anger at the South Korean government. [Bong Eun-ha, Mother of Defector Lee Jeong-hwa]: "I cannot help being enraged at the South Korean rebel regime's inhumane conduct of falsely insisting that my daughter wants to defect from her own country." The ...

North Korean death camps 1of2
Duration : 628 Seconds

North Korea is the perfect example of a 1984-styled colectivist society. The North Korean criminal government has accomplished Orwell's proverbial "boot stamping on a human face forever" scenario. Family and community bonding has been totally destroyed, to accomplish divide & rule purposes. Society is a nightmare of civilian spy rings, informants and paranoia, where you can't even trust your closest and dearest. Everyone is supposed to spy, and report, on everyone else. A criminal communist government holds complete control over resources and over the flow of information. People do not participate in the rule of their own lives; if they try to, they'll be sent to a forced labor/death camp. Society is divided into the typical communist caste system: state oligarchs and intelligentsia on top, a mid-plateau of military and bureaucrats to enact state-rule over the slaves and, finally, the slaves, living in their shanty town communes. Perpetual famine and poverty keeps the people weak and easily manageable, and keeps a check on their numbers; totalitarian regimes are always scared of the 'threat' of 'overpopulation'. See, the herd might just become unmanageable, and revolution might break out. The people are kept in a state of double-think and ignorance. This is the 'plus-plus-good' regime. Where, «even if all are miserable, all will believe themselves happy, because the government will tell them that they are so» (this to quote Bertrand Russell, the radical modernist and ...

Son of North Korean Dictator Comments on Successor
Duration : 92 Seconds

Recent media reports say the North Korean leader has named his youngest son as his future successor. Kim Jong Nam, the eldest son, is asked about the latest reports on the North Korean leadership. But he says he hasnt been told this news first hand. [Kim Jong-nam, Kim Jong-ils Son]: "Well I think so. I hear these news by media. The 35-year-old Jong Nam has fallen out of favor with his father. [Kim Jong Nam, Kim Jong-ils Son]: "I told many time that the appointment of successor is totally my father's decision. So he make his decisions, so he doesn't need to talk to me or talk to another person I think." Even by North Korea's standards, very little is known about the youngest son, who is said to be under 30 years old. Some say his youth could be a problem in a society that values seniority. Media reports say an oath of loyalty by North Korean officials to the youngest son has been requested.

Education for North Korean Defectors
Duration : 155 Seconds

Defecting North Koreans are generally welcomed in the South but their integration into mainstream South Korean society isn't easy. So today the government opened a new shelter so defectors can have a better environment to prepare themselves for their new lives. South Korea opened a new shelter for North Korean defectors in Seoul today. The government opened a "Hanawon" shelter for defectors in 1999 to introduce them to an unfamiliar world, to educate and to impart new skills necessary for work. However many defectors have been critical of the Hanawon shelter, saying the preparatory education there was insufficient to help them adapt to society. With the opening of the new Hana Center, defectors will be able to get an additional three weeks of education on top of the 12 weeks they are given. Seoul's Unification Ministry plans to open 16 shelters like this by 2011. Unification minister Hyun In-teak said there is a need to integrate the defectors into society. [Hyun In-teak, Unification Minister]: "More than 15000 North Koreans have defected to the South. Now not only the Unification Ministry or the government but also our whole society should be concerned about North Korean defectors since it has become a really important matter." A North Korean defector says she wished she had gone to the South earlier. The 65-year-old hid her face from the cameras so as not to be identified by North Korean authorities for the safety of her relatives in the communist state. [Yang Choon-ock ...
