NORFOLK HOTEL, NAIROBI, KENYA
Duration : 283 Seconds

The Norfolk is a little bit of history you can actually touch. The first hotel in Nairobi, it started as no more than a few ramshackled bungalow's, but has metamorphosed into one of the worlds best hotels.

Diani Reef Beach Resort and Spa Mombasa Kenya Africa
Duration : 879 Seconds

Paradise doesn't even describe how beautiful this resort is. It is by far the best resort on Kenya's Swahili Coast. The service was awesome, but nothing beats location. The white sand was champagne powder! (Skier comparison)

Leopard cub waiting for mom; Grevy's Zebra herd; Hornbill feeding mom and nestling; close encounter with scratching lion; striding into the dusk.

Kizito
Duration : 328 Seconds

"Being seen as a slave led me to stop loving that place". Osman Mwale Macheremu, whose nickname is 'Kizito', was born in Somalia and raised by Italian missionaries there. Ethnically he is Bantu, his ancestors having been trafficked to Somalia from Tanzania by Arab slavers. In the early 1990s, after civil war broke out in Somalia, he arranged for his wife and daughters to travel to Tanzania to find safety there. He could not join them because he needed to care for his aged parents, who were too old to make the journey. Nine years later, after his parents passed away, Kizito finally set out on his own to join his family, overcoming dangers along the way while traveling through insecure parts of Somalia and Kenya. His wife was waiting for him once he arrived. "She told me I should not have worried," he recalls. His daughters had been able to find schooling. "This made me so happy." Kizito recently obtained full Tanzanian citizenship under a naturalization program that was facilitated by UNHCR and that has provided citizenship for just under 3000 Somali Bantus of Tanzanian descent now living in Tanzania. "To be considered a slave (in Somalia), led me to stop loving that place," he said. To learn more about refugees, please visit www.unhcr.org.

In Ethiopia, even in the green and fertile Rift, people are still going hungry, and in northern Kenya global climate change is driving tribes to war over water and resources. In the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, Masai warriors are running a project to protect the country's lions. .

Kenya is regarded by many as the 'jewel of East Africa', and has some of the continent's finest beaches, most magnificent wildlife and scenery, and an incredibly sophisticated tourism infrastructure. Journey of the Hearts - Kenya
Duration : 450 Seconds

UPDATE: Follow my travel journey and join the discussions on Facebook! www.facebook.com I had a 'calling' to visit Rainbow House which I haven't even heard of before. This is home to forgotten and destitute kids located in Gede (coastal village in Kenya). I somehow found it on a whim and knew that's where I have to be. I packed my bags and arrived in the thick of the forest with no street signs or lights. What was I getting myself into? But it is there that I experienced so much with them. I didn't know what to expect, except to give. But in fact they were the real givers. Each child had a story behind them that is heartbreaking. I wanted to contribute however I could towards their happy childhood. But unexpectedly I felt mine redeemed and they knew how to make my inner child very happy :) They gave me more than anyone or anything ever could. Their faith, love, hope, joy and innocence had been ever humbling. They gave me a Swahili name called 'Upinde' which means Rainbow which I will embrace completely. I also had big revelations while camping in the wild for two nights. It turned out to be a journey of the heart and inspired me in so many ways. I wish I could take each of you there somehow to understand so much more. Click 'play', it's my small way to do this. If you would like to contribute or find out more about Rainbow House Children's Home, visit footprintsofjesus.org.uk

The royal nod : Kenya braces itself for tourism boost
Duration : 122 Seconds

While a wildlife conservation in central Kenya is a favourite of British royals, the herding community living nearby is far from thrilled about being a playground for the wealthy who travel there for the stunning vistas and wildlife. They say the conservation efforts are encroaching on the grazing fields they need for their animals and they fear being pushed out into the desert. Al Jazeera's Catherine Soi reports.

Kenya HELL'S GATE Natl. Park - Site of TOMB RAIDER II filming.
Duration : 142 Seconds

Hell's Gate National Park, lying south of Lake Naivasha, in Kenya. The Park is popular with hikers and campers who can enter without a vehicle and move noiselessly past herds of zebra and gazelle. The park is flanked by imposing cliffs which lead to a narrow canyon containing hot springs and geysers. Hell's Gate attracts many Movie Makers. Parts of the movie "Tomb Raider II" staring Angelina Jolie was shot here. Several travel guides suggest biking through Hell's gate-realisticly-it's a nightmare! Those we saw biking were pushing their bikes through deep ruts of sand. There isn't much hard surfaces.
