Instead of reporting it as such CNN went on to claim that there was violence in Kenya with misleading graphics and implied that the violence was widespread and did not specify that this was an isolated terrorist attack in a specific part of the country. Disappointed, angry and frustrated, Kenyans then stated a twitter hashtag #SomeoneTellCNN which trended worldwide. Kenya's Prime Minister Raila Odinga is seeking Israel's support in stopping reprisal terror attacks by an al-Qaeda-linked militant group Kenyan troops are pursuing in Somalia. A government statement Monday said Prime Minister Odinga asked Israeli President Shimon Peres for assistance in building the capacity of the Kenyan police to deal with attacks by al-Shabab militants. Odinga also met on Monday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem. Israeli security forces are among the best in the world in dealing with terror threats, but al-Shabab could view Kenya's request as a provocation. Kenya last month sent hundreds of troops into Somalia to pursue al-Shabab, whom it blames for attacks and kidnappings in Kenya. In response, al-Shabab has threatened to carry out terror attacks in Kenya's capital.

Internal Security Minister George Saitoti has said the fight against terror will be boosted by the passage of three pending bills in parliament that will provide a solid legal framework of handling terror suspects and cases. Wajir South's District officer and two other civil servants are being held hostage by Al shabaab in Somalia after an attack on a police post in Gerille location last night. A group of men armed with guns and explosives, raided an administration police post at nightfall killing 6 people — including three police officers — and wounding several others. Both the Kenya police and the Kenya defense forces in Somalia are in hot pursuit of the militia, as they attempt to rescue the three Kenyans.

Speaking at vigilance house Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere has called on all security organs to be extra vigilant while handling security matters and members of the public have been requested to be more watchful even as they enjoy the Easter season. At the same time, all motorists have been put on notice that drunk driving will not be tolerated.

www.ntv.co.ke A British man, Jermaine Grant, is facing terrorism related charges. The case, relating to a raid on a police post in Wajir, began in Nairobi after the suspect was moved from Mombasa. Jermaine, an alleged member of the Somali militant group Al-Shabaab is said to have been rescued by armed men in October 2008 after he was arrested by police while disguised as a woman. Jermaine is alleged to have been traveling with two other men from Garissa to the Kenya-Somali border. Following the raid at the border police post, a police vehicle, three G3 guns and an AK-47 rifle were stolen. If found guilty, twenty nine year old Jermaine who faces another charge of being in possession of explosives, may face the death penalty. The hearing continues on the tenth of April.

International security minister professor George Saitoti and his defence counterpart Yusuf Haji said the government had invoked article 51 of the United Nations chapter that pronounces self-defence as an inherent right. Two suspected Al-Shabaab members of Kenyan origin are in police custody after they surrendered following a police alert issued earlier in the day on their presence in the country. Sylvester Owino Opiyo, alias Musa Osodo and Hussein Nderitu Abbas also known as Mohamed, gave themselves up at the anti-terrorism police unit today after police spokesman Eric Kiraithe sought the public's support in locating their whereabouts so that the two could give crucial information on terrorist activities. The development comes at a time when the country is on high alert, following threats by the Al-Shabaab militia to launch attacks in Kenya during the festive season. Hussein Mohamed reports.

www.ntv.co.ke A Mombasa court has ordered three people, among them a Canadian national, arrested by anti-terrorism police officers early this morning, be remanded in custody for seven days. They were suspected of having explosive material. Senior Principal Magistrate Richard Kirui made the orders following an application by the police to have Peter Joseph, Fuad Abubakar and Warda Islam remanded in custody. Prosecutor Peter Githogo, who had sought to have the suspects remanded for ten days, told the court that it was important for thorough investigations to be conducted. He added that there was also need to contact the Canadian embassy to verify whether one of the suspects, Peter Joseph, was indeed a citizen of that country. However the magistrate remanded the suspects for seven days, saying the ten days requested by the prosecution was too long. Meanwhile immigration minister Otieno Kajwang' says his ministry is in a dilemma over refugees coming into the country. The Ministry has to allow people who genuinely seek asylum to come in, but with the growing threat of Al-Shabaab, that task has gotten more difficult.

WAR ON AL SHABAB: Troops assembled ready to launch attack inside Somalia in pursuit of Al Shabab who have continuously carried out abductions inside Kenya. Govt. has said it will invoke a UN charter allowing it to defend itself from external attacks. The move follows an announcement made on Saturday by top government officials including two cabinet ministers of Defence and Internal Security who said they will no longer allow the terror group Al Shabab to continue infringing on Kenya's territorial integrity. Several people have been abducted the latest being two aid workers working for an organization, Doctors without borders.

Well, the anti terror police unit in Mombasa is working on an immediate evacuation of a bomb thought to have been dropped in the ocean during the world wars. The discovery comes in the wake of Internal Security Minister Professor George Saitoti confirming that more suspects have been arrested in connection with the weekend attacks in Kilifi and Mombasa, where one person died and scores were injured. Saitoti could not reveal the actual number of suspects in custody, but he substantiated by saying the suspects include Kenyans and foreigners. Saitoti insinuated that the suspects have an Al Shabaab connection. The minister made the statement during a ceremony where the British government donated six vehicles to the Anti Terrorism Police unit to enhance the war on terror.
