Western's Alumni Association hosts the Last Lecture event for graduating students across all faculties, to celebrate their success. Keynote speaker Jordan Banks, BA'90, Managing Director at Facebook Canada graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School after receiving his BA from Western. When not in one of Western's lecture halls, Jordan could be found on the ice playing hockey or on the football field, followed by relaxing with his friends and listening to Rick McGhie at the Elbow Room. Today Jordan remains in contact with his Western friends and classmates through, you guessed it, Facebook.

Jordan Banks is the managing director of Facebook Canada, responsible for leading and managing all commercial operations at the Facebook Canada office based in Toronto. Over the course of the past two decades, Jordan has personally championed numerous efforts relating to raising money and awareness for Alzheimer's research and care. As part of that commitment, Jordan was the founder of both the Twitter movement called "A Million Tweets to Remember" as well as the popular fundraising event called Sportsfest. Jordan is also a Charter Member of C100, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Canadian technology entrepreneurship and investment. In addition, he is proud to serve as a business mentor as part of the Next36, an organization focused on helping launch the entrepreneurial careers of 36 of Canada's most promising and innovative undergraduates students. In his talk, Jordan shares the three pillars of life to an incredible journey of impact. The Brooklyn All Stars were, in gospel terms, very successful. They integrated the feel of 1960s soul earlier than most groups, helping to establish the soulful 70s gospel sound. Hardie Clifton was an original member, and his lead here is to-die-for. Nashboro Records was owned and operated by Ernie Young, well known to R&B fans as the founder of Excello Records and the proprietor of Ernie's Record Mart in Nashville, TN. Mr. Young sold a ton of Nashboro gospel records through his mail order business, advertising throughout the South on radio station WLAC.
