| | Japanese Architect Naoko Horibe Works (adzuki,ICHIMATSU,kashiba) Duration : 142 Seconds Japanese Architect, Horibe Naoko Architect Office Works Digest House in Koryo,House in Morihigashi www.naoko-horibe.com www.facebook.com 「adzuki」 This compact three-story residence is located on an 82m2 lot bordered by roads on three sides. All the rooms look out on a courtyard planted with trees, bringing a sense of the changing seasons to the interior of the house. Even the bath has a large fixed window that allows bathers to enjoy the green of the trees outside. The white of the courtyard walls can be glimpsed here and there through the large windows in the adzuki-bean-colored exterior, giving a sense of depth to the house despite its compact design. 「ICHIMATSU HOUSE」 We used lightweight and weather-resistant aluminum siding for the exterior finish of this residence, attached in a checkerboard pattern based on the standardized sizing of the material. The second floor balcony is designed as a semi-outdoor space that can be used to expand the child's bedroom in the future. The bit of blue sky visible through the balcony skylight is something for the residents alone to enjoy - their own private piece of sky. Through the combination of simple shapes, we brought an understated element of interest to each living space in this home. 「香芝の家/House in Kashiba」 The clients for this project requested a bath from which they could gaze out on a courtyard. We planted a "symbol tree" in the courtyard and designed the bathroom to look out over it. The courtyard brings light ... | | Kochuu: Japanese Architecture / Influence & Origin DVD Screener Duration : 110 Seconds Kochuu: Japanese Architecture / Influence & Origin A film by Jesper Wachtmeister KOCHUU is a visually stunning film about modern Japanese architecture, its roots in the Japanese tradition, and its impact on the Nordic building tradition. Winding its way through visions of the future and traditional concepts, nature and concrete, gardens and high-tech spaces, the film explains how contemporary Japanese architects strive to unite the ways of modern man with the old philosophies in astounding constructions. KOCHUU, which translates as "in the jar," refers to the Japanese tradition of constructing small, enclosed physical spaces, which create the impression of a separate universe. The film illustrates key components of traditional Japanese architecture, such as reducing the distinction between outdoors and indoors, disrupting the symmetrical, building with wooden posts and beams rather than with walls, modular construction techniques, and its symbiotic relationship with water, light and nature. The film illustrates these concepts through remarkable views of the Imperial Katsura Palace, the Todai-Ji Temple, the Naoshima Contemporary Art Museum, the Sony Tower, numerous teahouses and gardens, as well as examples of the cross-fertilization evidenced in buildings throughout Scandinavia, and shows how 'invisible' Japanese traditions are evident even in modern, high-tech buildings. KOCHUU also features interviews with some of Japan's leading architects as well as Scandinavian ...
