Two delegations from Hollywood are visiting Israel to learn about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, one comprised of actors and another mainly featuring directors. Today, both groups will meet with President Shimon Peres. The actors' delegation is also slated to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the coming days, after having met with Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad on Tuesday. Both groups are here as guests of the Jewish Federation's Tel Aviv/Los Angeles Partnership, The Creative Coalition and the AIPAC-affiliated American Israel Education Foundation. Last night, the actors held a press conference at the Dan Hotel in Tel Aviv in which they detailed their itinerary, which includes visits to Sderot and Ramallah, a tour of the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum and a visit to an absorption center for Ethiopian immigrants. Actress Patricia Arquette said the goal of the trip was to learn about the "nuances" of the Arab-Israeli conflict. Actor Richard Schiff of the "The West Wing" added that when they return to the United States, they plan to share what they have learned with their friends and others. Actor Rob Morrow from"Northern Exposure" related that Fayyad had spoken of peace and reconciliation with Israel, but shortly after they left the meeting, they heard that Fatah and Hamas had agreed to form a unity government. Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli is crossing over into the world of acting. The film is called Kidon, which translates as The Spear, and is a comedic take on real life events; namely, the killing in Dubai in 2010 of Hamas operative al-Mabhouh. Dubai police blamed Israel's spy agency Mossad for the hit but were never able to prove their suspicions and the crime has remained unsolved. In this movie version of events, Refaeli plays a sly seductress who lures al-Mabhouh into a trap laid for him by his assassins. The supermodel says the story of the killing is ripe for the big screen treatment. Actress and supermodel Bar Refaeli: "You have to understand, I come from Israel, so I hear about these subjects all the time. I hear about operations and events like this very often, we're all curious, we're all thirsty for more information but this specific one it's almost like, it sounded like a movie scene, it didn't sound like a real event and we still don't know what really happened... In February 18th 2012, activists in Canada's capital city staged an Israeli military checkpoint. While actors played their roles, several participants handed out flyers which spoke of Israel's policies of apartheid and segregation, but drew a particular attention to the Global Call to Open Shuhada Street. Next week, activists in Khaleel/Hebron will be protesting the closure of Shuhada street: - Shuhada St was main road in the city of Hebron but for 17 years, this road has been closed to Palestinian pedestrians and vehicles. - Israel forced the closure of Palestinian shops and sealed shut the entrances to Palestinian homes along the street. - The 600 Israeli armed settlers are supported by the Israeli military and the 170000 Palestinian residents have their freedom constricted as a result. The settlers are free to travel through the city, despite their presence being illegal under international law. - Shuhada is a symbol of expanding illegal Israeli settlements, a policy of segregation, lack of freedom of movement, and the Israeli occupation at large. This is why opening it is so significant.

They're captivating audiences in Israel by blending touch, mime, sign-language and music in a cabaret-style show about dreams and disability. Billed as the world's first professional deaf-blind theater company, only three of Nalaga'at's actors can speak. One hears a little if you shout directly in her ear and a few still have some vision. But they all communicate primarily through touch. Rehearsals can be chaotic. [Adina Tal, Nalaga'ta]: "It's crazy and it's unbelievable and it's a big challenge and it's fun. It's like breaking through human boundaries." Called "Not by Bread Alone", the play brings dignity and a comic touch to lives lived in darkness and silence. This follows a new law for models in Israel in which modeling agencies are prohibited from hiring underweight models, and Photoshop adjustments are prohibited. Anyone who violates the law will be fined. The influence of media and commercials is one of the causes of eating disorders and anorexia among young models. [Olga Kendis, Model]: "The problem exists not only in Israel but also abroad. I am sure that there are many other girls who suffer from a very young age and no one knows about it. Especially in modeling and television -- we give as an example!" Five percent of the whole population of women in Israel suffers from anorexia, as opposed to one percent among men.
