Now, after 20 years, the truth about what happened inside the police stations of Northern Ireland during the troubles is being revealed. Not only are the victims appealing but several RUC officers have admitted to the use of force to extract confessions, "there was plenty of slap and tickle. No doubt about it, people were being assaulted," in the words of one ex-RUC interrogator. Charlie McMenamin, who confessed to a string of terrorist offences after a series of brutal interrogations, is just one example of the extreme violence used against suspects. However, it is the systemic and authorised application of this policy which is so disturbing. Despite a change of policy among senior police officers at the end of the 1970s, brutality remained a problem up until the early 90s. In memory of a conflict, in 2006, involving the regiment in a battle in the town of Musa Qala in Afghanistan, a new Regimental March, composed by Chris Attrill and commissioned by Larne Borough Council, was gifted to the regiment on Saturday 1 November 2008 in Larne, County Antrim during an event in which the regiment was also presented with the 'Freedom of the Borough'. This gives the regiment the right to march through the town with 'flags flying, bands playing and bayonets fixed'. The March was named, 'Musa Qala'.

The American government gave much support to Irish anti-protestant terrorism - with the CIA providing weapons to the IRA and the US State Department allowing tens of millions of pounds to be raised for terrorist supporting groups throughout Northern Ireland's 'Troubles'. Irish Americans were guilty of supporting those who murdered Irish protestants because of their religion. Boston played a central role in fundraising for the IRA and Sinn Fein.

The government of the Irish Republic created, trained, financed and armed the Provisional IRA in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The government gave hundreds of weapons and millions of pounds to terrorists knowing the would be used to murder innocent protestant civilians in Northern Ireland. In later years they refused to extradite wanted IRA men to the UK to face trial, willingly allowed terrorists freedom to cross the border and murder protestants and also gave intelligence which resulted in the murders of judges, policemen and civilians. Maybe a few more Dublin/Monaghan bombings might have caused them to rethink their strategy.

In the past the IRA have worked with some of the most evil people and groups on the face of the earth. These IEDs (improvised explosive devices) have killed thousands of American and British soldiers over the past ten years. Now, thanks to the IRA's new relationship with Al Qaeda, more innocent people seem set to die in Ireland.

Tim Pat Coogan claims that the sickening murder of nine community police officers will result in even more American dollars flowing into the coffers of the IRA. During The Troubles in Northern Ireland millions of dollars of donations flowed from America to the IRA - money that was used to buy weapons which murdered thousands of innocent protestant civilians. Report (28 July 2008) reveals British Security Services are more concerned by a renewed Northern Irish terror threat, than any potential Muslim terror threat in the UK. According to police and security sources, the threat posed by dissidents in Northern Ireland is more severe than any on the British mainland, and the resurgent Irish republican terror threat has now become the main preoccupation of MI5. The three main dissident republican paramilitary groups currently active in Northern Ireland are the Real IRA (RIRA), the Continuity IRA (CIRA) and Óglaigh na hÉireann. To date, the Loyalist paramilitary groups have still failed to decommission their illegal weapons, unlike the IRA who fully decommissioned in 2005.
