Betty Meyler UFO Society of Ireland Last Words
Duration : 662 Seconds

Betty Meyler created the UFO Society of Ireland, and brought major international speakers to Ireland. Many had discrete Intelligence sources. She asked me to record what was the final Conference, so out of respect, and admiration, I provide these final comments and jokes, in what I believe is the last recorded images of the wonderful Betty Meyler. She asked me to speak at the 2010 conference this Oct. But alas, she did not survive. Many got married, and partnered at her conferences!! So GoodLuck, and God Bless. Betty provided a Huge force in Irish International UFO Investigation. Sweeps Fox may disgaree, but lets be kind to Betty, who fought so hard. With Thanks.:- Miles

The Irishmen And The Drug Dealers - Ireland
Duration : 614 Seconds

Oct 1996 When Irish journalist Veronica Guerrin was killed investigating Dublin's drug syndicates, a den of iniquity was exposed. This feature looks undercover at the drugs epidemic sweeping through Dublin and the impact ordinary Irish people are having on the drugs industry. It's an armed and dangerous anti-drug vigilante squad. Many in Ireland believe it was the inactivity of the politicians which led to Veronica Guerrin's death. Liz Allen has inherited Veronica's job at the newspaper and discusses the well known Dublin drug dealer who is widely acknowledged to be behind the murder. On the worst streets nobody goes without protection, every street corner - a drug supermarket. On the inside, Linda is on Methadone and desperately trying to beat the drug trap. Where are her family? 'They're in their graves, all 6 feet under, through drugs'. But now the people are taking control and protesting outside drug dealers houses. Popular Irish marches intimidate local drugs warlords. 'We're just showing them that they're not wanted'. Dublin's police chief insists that his forces are in control. The vigilantes say that the fact theat they exist means there must be a serious problem in Irish society

WB Yeats, Ireland and the Modern World - Professor Ronan McDonald
Duration : 3989 Seconds

The ANU Centre for European Studies & the Embassy of Ireland hosted this public lecture by Professor Rónán McDonald as part of its program of activities for the Yeats Travelling Exhibition. "We Irish, born into that ancient sect But thrown upon this filthy modern tide" "The Statues" Yeats's lines from his late poem 'The Statues' indicates two abiding poles of his work -- a concern with Ireland and a tremendous sense of international modernity. Hinging between the national and the international, this lecture seeks to discuss some of the major themes in Yeats's poetry across his career. It looks at how he responds to the intellectual and political crises of his times -- the rise of Darwinism in his youth, his interest in spiritualism and the occult, the varieties of nationalism, the wars and political turmoils in Ireland and Europe in the early twentieth century. Combining a broad thematic lecture with some discussion of individual poems, this lecture addresses the significance of Yeats as both a giant of Irish letters and a major modernist poet. Rónán McDonald is Professor in the School of English, Media and the Performing Arts at the University of New South Wales. His research interests include: Irish society, culture and politics; modern Irish literature; modernism; Samuel Beckett; literary criticism and theory; ideas of cultural value; the future of the humanities.

100 Hours Public Star Party with The Irish Astronomical Society in Wicklow Mountains National Park
Duration : 200 Seconds

April 4th 2009 210 people attended this free public star party in Wicklow Mountains National Park. The Irish Astronomical Society ran this event as part of 100 Hours of Astronomy, a cornerstone project for International Year of Astronomy 2009. As well as being for 100 Hours it was also a Saturn Observation Campaign event. Cassini bookmarks and Saturn moon cards were given to all attending. Our lovely moon and Saturn were the main targets, but many constellations were shown to the eager families who formed long queues at each of the eight telescopes. Many thanks to Michael Murphy, Val Dunne, David Branigan, Keith Deveney, James Kelly,Philip Lardner and Patrick Wynne, from The Dublin Institute of Advanced Studies who shared the wonderful sky with great energy and enthusiasm. Thanks also to Wicklow Mountains National Park, Ian Edwards ,John Kinsella and the park staff for being so attentive. Deirdre Kelleghan

Part 2: 100000 protesters in Dublin sound the death knell for the treasonous Irish government
Duration : 838 Seconds

Today in Dublin, in a massive demonstration not witnessed in Ireland since 2003 when over 100000 marched in protest against the then impending criminal attack on Iraq by the US/UK, a similar number marched in protest against their ongoing immiseration by a criminal Irish government, hell bent on forcing on them and the most vulnerable in Irish society the gambling debts of their cronies in the financial and property developer sector of the Irish economy. Today in Dublin, as the ruling Fianna Fáil party and their Green Party collaborators will shortly be forced to recognise in the forthcoming general election, a terrible beauty called justice, nemesis and democracy was born; all will be changed, changed utterly and their place, Inshallah, in the sewer of history will be copper-fastened.?

The Paul Stafford Foundation 2010 - Preventing Suicide in Ireland
Duration : 334 Seconds

www.paulstaffordfoundation.com The Paul Stafford Foundation was established in 2007 to raise awareness and address the serious issue of suicide in Ireland. It was founded by a group of people who were directly affected themselves by suicide and had lost someone they loved to this ever increasing problem. A young man called Paul Stafford is the inspiration for the foundation because in 1997 he took his own life, aged 26 and like so many suicide victims, left behind his distraught family and friends. 10 years later, those affected by this special man, felt a need to come together and do something to address the major issue of suicide in Irish society.
