Astronauts and space tourists could one day be sharing an armrest as they hurtle toward outer space under an agreement announced Wednesday between aerospace giant Boeing Co. and a private spaceflight marketing firm. Under the deal, Space Adventures of Vienna, Va., will market passenger seats aboard the seven-person spaceship that Boeing is developing in Huntington Beach. It is designed to fly atop a variety of launch vehicles and is expected to be ready to go by 2015. The spaceship, dubbed the Crew Space Transportation-100, is considered a contender for the job of ferrying astronauts to and from the International Space Station after the space shuttle program ends in 2011. If NASA chooses Boeing's spaceship for the job, Space Adventures will sell the open seats on the flights to people who can afford what will probably be an out-of-this-world price. "This opportunity to provide transportation services to NASA creates another opportunity to jump-start the human migration to space," said Brewster Shaw, vice president and general manager of Boeing's Space Exploration division. "One of our stated goals in our division is to become the Boeing commercial aircraft of human space commerce." Twice a year the International Reporting Project (IRP) awards up to 12 US "gatekeeper" editors fellowships to travel as a group on an intensive fact-finding visit to a single important but somewhat under covered country in the news. In the fall of 2008 12 senior US editors and producers traveled to Turkey for a 10-day International Reporting Project (IRP) Gatekeeper Editors trip. They were accompanied by Shayla Harris of the New York Times, who shot video during the trip. Harris' stories examine the conflict between religion and secularism, health in poor areas of eastern Turkey and the views of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Islam, Iraq, the United States and domestic Turkish issues. In this piece Harris explores the only secular democracy on the European continent where the predominant religion is Islam, a source of endless tension. In this video you will see the opening scene is mine and Stanley's medivac which happened on October 5th while we were traveling just west of Sangin. I was able to capture a video of him playing guitar the day after our fourth IED strike while we were in the British Hospital aat Camp Bastion. The reason I chose this song was because a handful of us in 2nd Platoon are Iraq veterans and we deployed together in 2008. It seems like we just traded a few things but for the most part, at first Afghanistan seemed the same... after a couple of months we learned that the combat in Afghanistan was nothing compare to Iraq. The lyrics in this song really cover things that went on our deployment... such as not being able to tell what day it is... not sleeping for days at a time,.. us being cowboys. Most of the time we lived out of our trucks and hardly ever slept. We would travel through some of the most dangerous deserts in orderr to reach some of the most austere locations such as Now Zad, Golestan, or Sangin. A crazy piece of footage is right in the middle of the video. After spending days in the Kash Rud desert... we returned to Camp Delaram II to refuel, and rest up for our next mission. While we were stopped in order to fuel up a massive "dirt devil" hit our convoy. All summer we had seen these dust cyclones but never one the size of an F5 Tornado. After decades of war and conflict Iraq is open for business. The Governor of Basrah, Dr Khalaf ASKhalaf was guest of honour at the Iraq Britain Business Council's conference at London's Mansion House where he told Western businessmen and officials and politicians from the UK government he wanted to make Basrah the number one trading centre for the whole of the Gulf region. Delegates also heard from guest speaker Lord Robertson of Port Ellen that Iraq's expectations were high and British Government Minister David Willetts who said the importance of education Iraq's young people was a high priority. The UK Border Agency said it was opening a visa office in Baghdad so Iraqis can get their visas in Iraq rather than travel to countries such as Jordan.

Master Sgt (Retired) Metus Rivers while deployed to Tallil AB Iraq June-Sep 2004 was able to visit the ancient Ziggurat built by pagan worshipers over 4000 years ago to reach higher to the moon which they believed was a God. Near the Ziggurat about 500 yards away is the house where the Biblical Father Abraham was born. Walking in Ancient Babylon (Modern day Iraq) the same ground where Abraham once walked was a once in a lifetime experience.
