Iran moves ahead at a fast speed, and so do emission standards. The Euro Four emission standard became mandatory for all new cars after the Iranian president unveiled the first cars produced with the Euro Four standard. But the country will soon go a notch higher. According to the officials, the effects of this and other pollution-fighting measures will be remarkable, because Iran has imposed the strict Euro Four standard two years ahead of schedule, the same time it is imposed in developed countries. But Iran will soon go a notch higher. European emission standards define the acceptable limits for exhaust emissions of new cars. These are defined in a series of European Union directives staging the progressive introduction of stringent standards. Air pollution has become a major headache for Iranian officials, especially in major cities such as the capital, where air quality continues a downward slide. The World Bank estimates losses inflicted on Iran's economy as a result of deaths caused by air pollution at more than half a billion dollars a year.

Whether we use public transportation or our own car, our life seems to be inseparable from automobiles. Although this handy invention has only been introduced to the society about 200 years ago, the progress of this industry has been amazing. But many prefer to still use classic cars or at least keep them as a souvenir. In Tehran's Niavaran Park, there is an exhibition of the classic cars. They are so shiny that you think they have just came out of the production line. I guess their owners must really take good care of them.

The National Car Museum of Iran is a museum in Karaj, Iran, opened in the year 2001. Inside the museums are classic cars owned by the last Shah of the Pahlavi Dynasty, Mohammad Reza Shah. There are two parts to the complex. One is a large museum which is open to the public and there is a restoration center at the back side where no visitors can enter.

The company plans to increase its production capacity from 2200 to 16000 units a year. It sells around 20 cars on average per week.. Angel Herevia, Automotive Sector Analyst According to director Rafael Bolivar, the company has come up with a contingency plan to make between 200 to 300 cars per week. The Turpial DLX and the Centauro EL, are the only models under production. The next plan is to consolidate independent and state-owned dealers. Venirauto began production in November 2006 under a cooperation agreement signed between the governments of Iran and Venezuela. The Venezuelan state owns around 64% of the shares, and the rest goes to Iran's Toseyeh Sanayeh Khodoro Company. There is only one manufacturing plant in Aragua. And the company intends to open two more in the states of Portuguesa and Barinas. Venirauto is just one of many cooperation agreements signed between Tehran and Caracas that has helped Venezuela in its drive for self-sufficiency. After only five years, Iranian cars are an inseparable part of Venezuelan transportation system.
