I (Michael Leander) stayed in the Howeyzeh Hotel in Tehran for nearly 1 week. Restaurant, lobby and coffee shop was fine. But the room was old and smelly. Working at the working desk is impossible. I would compare this hotel to a 2-3 star hotel in Europe. In Iran this is rated a 4 star hotel. As a speaker and trainer the quality of the hotels we stay in has a direct impact on a speaker's mood and preparation. I would not recommend this hotel for business travelers, however if you are in Teheran and just need a place to sleep, it will do just fine. More about what I do here www.michaelleander.me

Our visit to Tehran in 1968. We got the 'phone call on Wednesday from our agent, and flew to Tehran on Sunday morning October 26th 1968. I was 22. One night we played for the Shah at a private party at a ski lodge in the mountains; it was all quite an incredible adventure, and we met some wonderful people. Everyone was so kind & friendly. I'll never forget the little corner shop on Television Avenue, where we bought our bread and groceries. The young guy outside the hotel by the white car at the end of the film is Mahmoud Ghorbani who was then married to the singer Googoosh. We all had good fun together. Mahmoud's brother was the owner of the Miami Hotel.

New York, NY - On Thursday, United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) called on New York City hotels to refuse to host Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad during this year's United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September 2011. This is the third consecutive year that UANI is leading its Hotels Campaign. In previous years, UANI and its supporters have pressured multiple hotels to deny accommodations to Ahmadinejad and his delegation. In separate letters to dozens of New York hotels, UANI President, Ambassador Mark D. Wallace, wrote: President Ahmadinejad is the leader of a criminal regime that flouts international law by pursuing an illegal nuclear weapons program, sponsoring terrorism, and abusing its own citizens. We strongly believe that no American-based venue should host this man. We are calling on you and all other New York-area venues to help isolate and condemn the Iranian regime by refusing to host President Ahmadinejad and his cohorts... It is also worth recalling that in his speech before the General Assembly last year, Ahmadinejad despicably claimed that the US orchestrated the September 11 terrorist attacks against its own citizens... With the tenth anniversary of 9/11 approaching this September and in light of previously undisclosed information regarding the Iranian regime's complicity in the 9/11 attacks (The New York Times. www.arabia2day.com A visit to Iran, ancient and modern, looking at caviar and carpets, oil wells and airports. Tim Brinton visits Iran on the New Golden Circle service from London to Tehran. Looking around the city of buildings and people Brinton travels north towards the Caspian Sea through the Karaj Valley and towards the Alborz Mountains. Brinton meets some nomads and shares some of their unleavened bread. Travelling onwards, past the construction of the Karaj Dam and visits locals in the village due to be swamped by the dam. There are many small farms on the plains towards the Caspian Sea and new motels are springing up around the Caspian. The Pahlevi Dynasty built hotels for royal guests, that are now available for paying guests and Brinton interviews one of the hotel managers. Date 15/06/1960
