Over half a century later, some of these images are as common today, as they were in the mid-1950s. The data from the Directorate General of Horticulture in Indonesia said that foreign and domestic market still has not been fully filled and for the last 10 years, the demand for roses has increased rapidly from year to year. However, despite the high demand of roses, rose farmers are still in awful condition. For example, farmers in Lembang on average earn Rp1.000.000 a month, while their expenses vary from Rp500.000 to Rp2.000.000 a month, it depends on dependents they have in a family. With this kind of financial situation, farmers family make money to survive from month to month. If someday their needs increase, for example the rising cost of education for their children, they will no longer afford it. Children are the ones who get the most disadvantages. They mostly ended their education at a junior high school level. Realizing that we could use our skills to bring benefits to the community, so we came up with a social enterprise plan. We surveyed a rose farmer community in Lembang and found out that there was a stark disparity between prices flower growers and middlemen charged for flowers. It was because there was no alternative market ... Tags :rose, women, farmer, empowerment, natural cosmetic, Indonesia, project inspire

| | Bahasa Indonesia--Bagaimana mengontrol tikus di areal pertanaman padi (Controlling ricefield rats) Duration : 542 Seconds Bagaimana mengontrol tikus di areal pertanaman padi. By understanding how populations of specific rodent species interact, simple and environment-friendly methods can be developed to control rats in lowland irrigated crops. This video, produced by the Irrigated Rice Research Consortium (IRRC; irri.org ), explains the breeding dynamics of the rice field rat and its relation to the rice planting season. It introduces ecologically based rodent management and highlights effective community actions to control rice field rats, such as the trap barrier system. Also see: * Rodent outbreaks: Ecology and impacts on Google Books: books.google.com * Rat busters, an article in Rice Today magazine: irri.org Partial script: Each rodent pest species has different behavioral characteristics, breeding dynamics, and habitat preferences. Some species breed regularly, some breed throughout the year, and others breed at very specific times. The ricefield rat, for example, breeds only when the rice is in the reproductive phase—if there is one planting season per year, they have one breeding season, if there are two, they will have two, and, if they have three crops a year, they will have three breeding seasons. Female rats are pregnant for 21 days and can mate the day after they give birth. One female can give birth to three litters—with 12 young per litter—during a rice crop, resulting in a total of 36 rats. These young will not breed until the next crop unless neighboring farmers plant their ...
