In August, it was reported the FBI currently employs upwards of 15000 undercover agents, ten times the number they had in 1975, and the vast majority of terror plot arrests in the United States are the result of FBI sting operations. "By providing weaponry, funds and a plan, FBI-directed agents will encourage otherwise-unwilling participants to plot out terrorist attacks, only to bust them before any events fully materialize," RT reported. The Capitol sting arrives a few days after terrorist attacks in India, Georgia and Thailand.
