Duration : 321 Seconds

The architect Laszlo Hudec: a Hungarian who worked primarily in Shanghai, China from 1918 to 1945. Hudec is one of the most prolific and important architects of the pre-revolution period in China. Laszlo Hudec was born in 1893 in northern Hungary. As a young man, Laszlo's father, a builder, encouraged him to work in all aspects of the trade. From 1911 to 1914 Hudec studied architecture at the Budapest University. After the completion of his degree, he joined the Austro-Hungarian army, only to be caught by the Russians in 1916 and sent to prison camp in Siberia. Two years later, in 1918, Hudec was on a prisoner of war train headed for the interior of Russia from Habarowsk, a prison camp close to the Chinese border. Hudec jumped train and made his way into China eventually arriving in Shanghai. In Shanghai, Hudec joined the American architectural firm, RA Curry. By 1925, he had established his own office and was one of the leading architects in the city. By 1941, he had built at least 37 buildings as well as numerous private residences. He died in California in 1958.

Art Nouveau in the Hungarian Architecture - Szecesszió a magyar építészetben
Duration : 190 Seconds

Art Nouveau is an international movement and style of art, architecture and applied art that peaked in popularity at the turn of the 20th century (1890-1905). Hungarian Art Nouveau is based on the national architectural characteristics. Ödön Lechner, the most important figure in Hungarian Art Nouveau, was initially inspired by Indian and Syrian architecture, with the synthesis of the different elements he created a version of Art Nouveau that was specific to Hungary. He and his followers designed the most of these buildings. A szecesszió a századforduló jellegzetes képző- és iparművészeti irányzata, amely minden országban másként nyilvánult meg. A magyar szecesszió a népi építészet sajátosságain alapul. 1. Gróf-palota, Szeged (Raichl Ferenc) 2-3. Reök-palota, Szeged (Magyar Ede) 4. Városháza, Szeged (Vedres István neogót, később Lechner Ödön) 5-6. Szegedi zsinagóga (Baumhorn Lipót) 7. Víztorony, Szeged (Zielinski Szilárd, homlokzat: Giergl Kálmán és Korb Flóris) 8. Raichl-palota, Szabadka (Raichl Ferenc) 9. Szabadkai zsinagóga (Jakab Dezső) 10-11. Bankpalota, Hódmezővásárhely (Müller Miksa) 12-13. Városháza, Kiskunfélegyháza (Vas József és Morbitzer Nándor) 14. www.fakultativ.com http Lenses: 18-135mm kit + Canon 50mm 1.8 MkII Music: Thomas Newman About the castle: Vajdahunyad Castle was built between 1896 and 1908 its various parts illustrate the different styles of Hungarian architecture. It was designed by Ignác Alpár, and derived its name from the wing facing the lake, which is an imitation of the Castle of Vajdahunyad in Transylvania, the family castle of János Hunyadi, the hero of the Turkish wars, which was built in its present form in the fifteenth century.

Széchenyi Baths, Budapest, Hungary - Unravel Travel TV
Duration : 44 Seconds

The Romans were first to develop the baths in Budapest and the city has some of the worlds finest Turkish baths, all Ottoman architecture, huge octagonal pools and stained glass windows. Most visitors look for pure soggy, steamy, flotational relaxation. For a typically Hungarian spectacle, Széchenyi bath in the City Park is where people play chess outdoors in steaming water. It is the largest public bath and open since 1913. As well as bathing in hot springs, you are encouraged to drink the sulphuric water (which tastes awful but is apparently wonderful for detoxing). After this and some time in the aromatheraphy scented saunas and mud chambers, you will be feeling as good as new. Unravel Travel TV www.unraveltravel.eu

St. Stephen's Basilica in Budapest
Duration : 348 Seconds

The magnificent Saint Stephen's Basilica is one of the great landmarks of Budapest. Construction took over fifty years, from 1851 until 1906. The completed church is the work of three different architects. Miklos Ybl, the creator of Budapest's glorious Opera House was the main architect for this basilica, though it was begun by Joszef Hild and completed after Ybl's death by Jozsef Krauser. The interior is truly breathtaking and contains masterpieces by great Hungarian artists like Gyula Benczur and Alajos Strobl. Photos taken by me on June 19th, 2009.

I have to say that the pictures rival that of the pictures I did for Germany's clip. I hope everybody like's the music. All 3 of them came from the Castlevania series. And I hope it didn't offend anybody of some of the themes I had going on. I never intended to pass them as 'stereotypical'. It's just that Romania has such a mystery to all of it's beauty. They even have their own language! I bet it's difficult to find a class in America that teaches that language.
