Over the last few months , some 70 schools have been handed over to religious institutions, for the most part the Catholic Church. The roman catholic church from Ardud town,Satu Mare County,Romania,Europe, is a very old and beautiful church erected in 1492 in the gothic style. In the present times is in a very good condition both inside and outside.It is a masterpiece of architecture. Near the church is the bronze statue of cardinal Bakocz Tamas who was born here in Ardud (Erdod) in 1442 and died in Esztergom (Hungary) in 1521. A húsvéthétfő vízbevető, vízbehányó hétfő elnevezése utal a szokás eredeti jellegére. A Magyar Néprajzi lexikon feljegyzései szerint: a húsvéti locsolkodás „termékenységvarázsló népszokás". Egyházi magyarázat szerint a keresztelésre utal, eszerint Jézus feltámadását hirdető asszonyokat a zsidók locsolással akarták elhallgattatni. Régebbi időkben a fiatal legények csapatokban járták a falvakat, és vízzel alaposan meglocsolták a leányzókat. A lányok hálából, hogy nem maradtak szárazak, hímes tojásokat osztogattak nekik. Persze a húsvéti locsolóversek sem maradhattak el, népköltészetünk gazdag tárházát kínálja a különböző rigmusoknak. Később ez a szokás is modernizálódott, a fiúk nem csapatokban mentek a lányokhoz, és előkerültek a kölnisüvegek is. A lányok pedig megvendégelték őket, és a locsolókat fáradozásaikért aprópénzzel is megjutalmazták. A gyermekek locsolkodása szagos vízzel, rövid versikék kíséretében történik.
