Take a tour of Old Bridge of Mostar in Bosnia-Herzegovina -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions series by GeoBeats. The Stari Most, or "Old Bridge", provides a beautiful centerpiece to the town of Mostar. The bridge was built in 16th century and comprised the world's widest arch at the time. There is a longstanding tradition of local young men diving from the bridge's peak. Sadly, the original bridge was destroyed in the Bosnian War and has been reconstructed. Two towers, the "bridge keepers", watch over the bridge from either side of its length. The Old Bridge offers excellent views of the beautiful blue waters of the Neretva River.

Filmed largely in Croatia but also partly in Bosnia-Herzegovina, this travel show is presented and narrated by Tomos, who was 9 years old at the time, during a trip with his family to this part of eastern Europe in the summer of 2009. The footage was obtained by use of a Sony consumer-standard HD camcorder, and was post-produced by Gwanwyn Productions / CreativeJigsaw Productions. The programme follows Tomos as he leads us through his trip, which takes him to Trogir, Split, the Krka National Park, Mostar, Medjugorje, Dubrovnik, and the island of Brac. The entire programme runs for approximately 35 minutes. This is part 2, which focuses on the Krka National Park.

www.TravelsWithSheila.com Mostar is the largest and most important city in the Herzegovina region. A UNESCO World Heritage site divided by the Neretva River with Croats on one side and Muslims on the other. Mostar was founded by the Turks during the 15th century. The city and famed old bridge (Stari Most) was the most heavily bombed following the break-up of Yugoslavia. Mostar has painstakingly been rebuilt, stone by stone. An easy town to walk around without guides since all attractions centrally located. (Our guide in Mostar was quite boring.) TIP Wear good shoes to keep from getting heels caught in the stone grooves.
