| | Much Ado In Mostar Duration : 171 Seconds The war torn city of Mostar, Bosnia-Herzegovina is divided ethnically and religiously right down the middle. Muslims live on the east side, Catholics on the west side. At a glance, Mostar is a vibrant modern and historical town full of vibrant cafes, ringed by Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman architecture. The US lead, Dayton Peace Accord, brought peace to Bosnia in 1995, but is no longer a suitable framework for their government. The residents in the city of Mostar are fearful of another war like the one that pitted neighbor against neighbor in the 90's. Led by a Dartmouth College professor, a mix of kids from both sides of the city, put their differences aside and come together to perform Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. The film follows them from 5 weeks of rehearsal to a tour of the production with performances in Croatia, Montenegro, Republika Srpska and Bosnia-Herzegovina. | | Prayercast | Bosnia and Herzegovina Duration : 149 Seconds Bosnia and Herzegovina is one country divided into two separate governmental entities and populated by three ethnic groups with strong cultural identities- Bosniaks (Bosnian Muslims), Croats and Serbs. This triangular shaped country on the Balkan Peninsula in southeastern Europe is bordered by Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro. In determining whether to separate from Yugoslavia in 1991, Bosnia and Herzegovina became involved in a devastating three-year civil war. Fighting broke out along ethnic lines where few cultural differences had previously existed. The war left over 200000 people dead, half the population displaced, and much of the country's infrastructure and economy destroyed. The 1995 Dayton Peace Accord ended the war and established a governmental plan to include all three ethnic factions. The new plan called for dividing the country into two entities - the Bosnian-Croat Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Bosnian Serb Republic or Republika Srpska. Each entity has its own governing powers with a central Bosnian government having three presidents -- one from each ethnic group -- who rotate every eight months. International peacekeepers from NATO and more recently the European Union have helped stabilize the country, but with unemployment as high as 50-70% in some areas, addressing economic issues is a priority. Bosnia and Herzegovina's desire to be a part of the European Union is a big motivation to improve the economy, but greater steps toward resolving ... | | Bosnia and Herzegovina-all you have to know. Duration : 342 Seconds www.lib.utexas.edu hrpovijestipolitika.blogspot.com books.google.com www.newadvent.org The Catholic Encyclopedia, 1917 Bosnia and Herzegovina Population "Excluding some 30000 Albanians living in the south-east, the Jews who emigrated in earlier times from Spain, a few Osmanli Turks, the merchants, officials. and Austrian troops, the rest of the population (about 98 per cent) belong to the southern Slavonic people, the Serbs. Although one in race, the people form in religious beliefs three sharply separated divisions: the Mohammedans, about 550000 persons (35 per cent), Greek Schismatics, about 674000 persons (43 per cent), and Catholics, about 334000 persons (21.3 per cent). The last mentioned are chiefly peasants." "Since 1848 the Catholic Serbs, who are in large part subjects of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, have bee under the spiritual jurisdiction of the Bishop of Diakovo, in Slavonia. Although freedom of religion was constitutionally guaranteed by the Congress of Berlin, the position of the Catholic Church is a disadvantageous one, as the Orthodox clergy put various difficulties in the way of parochial work. In the course of the nineteenth century negotiations were several times begun for the erection of a Latin bishopric in Servia. Bishop Strossmayer of Diakovo, especially, tried repeatedly to attain this end, but all efforts were in vain. In 1890 the Holy See gave its consent to the erection of a bishopric for Servia, but the movement has failed on account of the ... Tags :Serbs, Bosniaks, Croats, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia
| | New version of Vukašin's Thunder And Lightning (Bosnia & Herzegovina) Duration : 192 Seconds Powered by www.eurovision.tv Vukašin Brajić, who placed second in the pan-balkan pop music TV-contest Operation Triumph, was nicknamed the assassin because he managed to eliminate all those nominated with him, although they were considered favourites of the audience. At the end of the show, the jury proclaimed him the participant with the highest average mark .Even though he has been on the music scene for a little over a year, he has had many performances and concerts that qualified him to be the representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Eurovision Song Contest. He believes his greatest advantage is his capacity for transformation on stage. He likes rock music because he can draw energy from it for his performances and it is the only style that reflects his temperament. Dino Šaran, who wrote his song, is one of the most respected composers in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia. He has written songs for famous music stars such as Vanna, Crvena jabuka, Luka Nižetić, but also for the folk music star Halid Bešlić. | | BBE part 27 -True Reason 4 War in Bosna 1992 READ Duration : 601 Seconds We are not Romani or gypsies, we are the descendants of Pateran Kingdom (formerly known as Zott state, where all Romani/gypsies are encouraged to think to be from), which is something I named Pateran untill further time when we're left alone and free to choose (which may never happen, whether we know who we are or not). Forbidden History #27(TRUE REASON FOR WAR IN BOSNA IN 1992!!) I ask our future to never forget that the free spirit of Bogumilism (known today as Democracy, Freedom of Rligion, and Fair Economy) was what caused the war in Bosna, and all the numerous protests by Bosnian Serbs as well as Serbians themselves on the streets of Belgrade with THREE FINGERS (Holy Trinity) raised is the simplest proof of it (as Bogumils didn't believe in Holy Trinity). Why were moslems killed, then, in such a majority even though their religion accepts both Christianity and Judaism the way they see themselves? - and therefore supporting Holy Trinity concept! Because moslems are the target of political convenience these days PRECISELY because their religion supports the Holy Trinity, AS MANY COUNTRIES BASE THEIR LAWS ON RELIGION, United States of America as well. Imagine US falling apart Constitutionally, being such a power as is. It would spell out many problems for Americans, both legally and economically. As historical truths are proving that stories of both Jesus and Moses have been used centuries before their birth, so do seemingly religions become invalid - and "therefore ... Tags :Bosna, Bogumil
| | Secular brand of Islam prevalent in Bosnia and Herzegovina Duration : 84 Seconds The more secular brand of Islam prevalent in Bosnia and Herzegovina is being challenged by the growing number of fundamentalist Wahhabi Muslims. Imam Jusuf Barcic learned the holy Quran by heart when he was still a young student at school. The Bosnian Muslim cleric continued his religious education in Mecca, home to Islam's holiest site, where he spent six years. In 1994, he returned home as a missionary, intent on passing on his newly gained understanding of religion, based on a fundamentalist view of Islam, onto other Bosnians. Speaking after a sermon he delivered in a mosque on the outskirts of his home town of Kalesija, Barcic said the moderate form of Islam prevalent in Bosnia and Herzegovina is little more than a mixture of various cultural beliefs and practices that have deviated from the original teachings of Islam. "God has given people the ability to understand, to learn and to be closer to the original practices of the first generations (of Muslims). Our people have accepted something which is sort of popular culture, and they wrongly believe that that is the Sunnah and practice of (the Prophet) Mohammad, peace be upon him," Barcic said. Barcic and his supporters are Wahhabis, who adhere to a puritanical, revivalist Islamic movement which originated in the Arabian Peninsula in the 18th Century. It calls for returning to a pure understanding of Islam stripped of all cultural and historical influences. It is a form of Islam which is attracting a growing number of ...
