Stanley Greaves has been recognized and celebrated as an outstanding Guyanese and Caribbean artist. His paintings and sculptures have been exhibited in prestigious exhibitions in Brazil, Columbia, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and London. His paintings are in private collections in Guyana, Venezuela, Barbados, Cuba, Jamaica, the United States, and the United Kingdom. His 1993 painting, "The Annunciation" has been used as the cover for Veerle Poupeye's important book Caribbean Art. Greaves has received high awards from the people of Guyana and Barbados for his excellence as a painter, sculptor, and teacher. During 2003, the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, recognized him as an Honorary Distinguished Fellow of the Faculty of Humanities and Education.

Here's a clip from Skip's DVD, The Secrets of Color I also, this will be a little surprising to you, I also will occasionally put something here which is black. Now the idea of black as being a color is offensive to some people but I don't really understand that. It certainly is a color and I guess you would say it's certainly a pure color. It's just a pure form of gray I guess but it's very obviously a pure form of color in your palette. And you can see that's getting a little bit gray there and that's alright you don't have to have 100% pure color. Now I'm not making excuses I'm just saying you can. We have to trust our eye. We've been living a long time some of us. We make decisions based on our taste. We don't buy furniture or anything in our lives with a color chart, we look at it and say do I like it. So I think we should do the same in our paintings. It would look nice to have this color right there. It's always a guess. There are no guarantees about this. You say I think it will look good and try it and sometimes you're right. Sometimes yellow will start to mix with things and it gets too transparent. I'll add a bit of white to it just to give it a little more strength.

Just search around for a kewl image on this planet and paint it in. Go green, save our planet! Grow a garden. Feed the hungry. Walk don't drive the cars. Take a bus or ride your bike.
