Post Traumatic Stress Disorder has been growing among US vets at an alarming rate. The trauma of war has over 300000 deployed soldiers living with PTSD, which makes approximately 20 percent of vets. In 2010, the number of diagnosed cases have jumped 50 percent. Now the Pentagon has received an $11 million grant to study the effectiveness of a new drug on military vets. The drug, DCS, is thought to get rid of fearful memories and get the trama out of war. Doctor Jeff Kaye, blogger and TruthOut contributor joins us to discuss this new drug. MaximsNewsNetwork: 01 September 2010 - UNTV: United Nations, New York - Ambassador Anatolio Ndong Mba of Equatorial Guinea today (1 September) defended his Government's actions relating to the execution of four men over their alleged involvement in an armed attack on the country's presidential palace last year; reading from a prepared statement, Ndong Mba told reporters at United Nations (UN) Headquarters that the alleged perpetrators had been tried "with all the legal guarantees" in an "open and public" trial broadcast by national media. Three former military officers and one civilian, José Abeso Nsue, Manuel Ndong Anseme, Alipio Ndong Asumu and Jacinto Michá Obiang, were executed after a military trial in which they were found guilty on charges of treason and terrorism. The statement said that national legislation "provides for the application of capital punishment for crimes such as those judged in this court." Regarding concern that the sentence was carried out the same day as it was issued, denying the defendants any possibility of appeal, Ndong Mba said that this was a summary military court "and the appeal was not allowed". He also responded to allegations that the suspects had been abducted from Cameroon, Nigeria or Benin, before facing trial in Malabo. He said that they deliberately "came back again to Equatorial Guinea" to perpetrate other attacks, before "they were captured and judged." The first thing that a totalitarian leader does to make a perfect laboratory out of his nation (and perfect guinea pigs out of his subjects) is to seal off the nation from the outside world, not only to prevent outside variables that might compromise his experimentation from coming in but also to prevent inside variables essential for the success of his experimentation from escaping out. It is not surprising then that the most crucial question that a totalitarian leader or party asks is: how do I keep out those variables that potentially infringe on my independence to experiment as I simultaneously keep in those variables essential to the success of my experiment? The independence mentioned here is that of the leaders (or the partys) unfettered independence to do whatever he wants to do within the confines of his laboratory (the nation) to bring about the kind of results he wants to achieve often, a utopian society made in his or the partys own image. But since no such satisfactory result is ever achieved, the experimentation ends up being all about weeding out interfering variables, a process that ends only with the demise of the totalitarian system itself. The control that a totalitarian leader seeks, unlike that of a scientist, is to be met at the two ends of the experimentation process: not only does he aim for total control of the setting wherein his experimentations are to be conducted, but the results that he is aiming at are also solely for purposes of control ...

Kenneth Nichols O'Keefe (born Kenneth Roy Nichols July 21, 1969) is a naturalised Irish, Palestinian and Hawaiian citizen and activist, he is also an ex-US Marine who served in the 1991 Gulf War and subsequently spoke out about the use of depleted uranium as a "crime against humanity" and the US military using soldiers as "human guinea pigs" with experimental drugs that were directly linked to Gulf War syndrome. He is an American born citizen who renounced his US citizenship on March 1, 2001.
