Bolokada Conde, a Malinke Djembefola from Guinea, West Africa led San Francisco Bay Area West African Drum and Dance community honoring world famous Kemoko Sano, master choreographer of Ballet Africains and Les Mervilles de Afrique at La Pena Cultural Center in Berkeley, California. Sano died in Conakry, Guinea, West Africa in 2006.

This group came to our house and played for us under the shade of a large mango tree. As you can see they are playing on drums that look beaten and battered, but sound great. The djembefola is a young griot, named Petit Laya Kouyate.
