When Europeans first arrived on Guam, Chamorro society roughly fell into three classes: matua (upper class), achaot (middle class), and mana'chang (lower class). The matua were located in the coastal villages, which meant they had the best access to fishing grounds while the mana'chang were located in the interior of the island. Matua and mana'chang rarely communicated with each other, and matua often used achaot as a go-between. There were also "makåhna" (similar to shamans), skilled in healing and medicine. Belief in spirits of ancient Chamorros called Taotao mo'na still persists as a remnant of pre-European society. When Magellan first arrived on Guam, he was greeted by hundreds of small outrigger canoes that appeared to be flying over the water, due their speed. These outrigger canoes were called Proas, and resulted in Magellan naming Guam Islas de las Velas Latinas (Islands of the Lateen Sails ). Guam—the only European outpost in the Pacific Ocean beyond the Philippines, the ... Tags :Guam History, Intro, Spanish, Colonization, Manila Galleons, WW2, japanese fighter plane, War

| | Paradise Hunter - Al Lewis.m4v Duration : 69 Seconds For the past 30 years I've been fortunate to make the globe a personal playground. Throughout an exciting career with Air Canada, I've explored, traveled and studied the worlds far reaches, appreciating the diverse opportunities afforded to me. My love for "off the beaten path" travels, mixed with a serious dose of curiosity has led to a unique appreciation of the diverse cultures our planet has to offer. From sailing on tall ships through the Caribbean to canoe explorations through the jungle regions of the Amazon, Borneo and Papua New Guinea, my perpetual thirst to learn and experience the remote and unknown has been unquenchable. My camera and travel journals have been my constant companions and I've had articles published in various travel magazines and newspapers. I've always been a keen appreciator of art in all its forms, acquiring an impressive collection of primitive tribal carvings as well as a wonderful library of antiquarian books dating back to the 1600s. On several occasions I've donated acquisitions from my trips to museums, which has been greatly rewarding as well. From my Vancouver, British Columbia home base, I became involved in television and film, with numerous local, regional, and international commercials before moving to British Columbia's Okanagan valley to start a family. I've always been up for new challenges, from studying Spanish in Guatemala, to landscape design, and most recently Central American archaeology. Recently, a close friend ... Tags :travel, photography

| | Klaus Dona : The Hidden History of the Human Race (March 2010) Duration : 2817 Seconds I first met Klaus Dona, an Austrian artifacts researcher, in July 2009. His Project Camelot interview (available here) was extremely well received, and many people wrote asking for a follow-up. So I'm delighted to bring you more. This video is a 45 minute slideshow, with a personal commentary from Klaus. It's data-rich, detailed, intensive, absorbing, and may contain more startling information about the history of the human race in one place than any other video you've ever seen. The journey we embark on covers Atlantis, reptilian humanoids, the Anunnaki, ancient symbolism, ancient science, an ancient global language, and much more. This is astonishing material, which has my highest recommendation. Enjoy. projectavalon.net unsolved-mysteries.info bill@projectavalon.net Tags :Project Avalon, Bill Ryan, Project Camelot, Klaus Dona
