Maya World Cruise Terminal Guatemala.mov
Duration : 89 Seconds

Informacion: www.paredesaleman.com Date of Project: November 2010 Maya World Cruise Terminal Guatemala by P+A architects. Maya World Cruise Terminal in the Atlantic coast of Guatemala will be the Main Gate to the Mayan Civilization. It is centrally located to major historical and natural attractions of Guatemala and the rain forests surrounding the Mayan ruins and colonial cities of this Central American region. The project will be located in an area surrounded by dense mangrove vegetation, an important ecosystem of tropical wildlife. Its architecture is defined by local materials and building systems, while also providing a new vocabulary of design. With this in mind P+A architects have developed a network of paths and bridges inside the mangrove forest so that the visitors can live the adventure of exploring the wildlife in a safe and comfortable environment. The main buildings were designed and oriented to different solstices and equinoxes in order to produce an irregular geometric language, echoing the powerful presence of the volcanoes of the region and the Mayan pyramids that slowly seem to emerge from the forest. The project is strategically located so that the visitor can enjoy the experience of the forest as well as the designed ecosystems of Garza Beach and Cangrejo Dunes, both natural habitats of local species. Different amenities complement the experience of visiting Maya World Cruise Terminal. From canoe trips through the neighboring mangrove river, shopping ...

TIKAL PETÉN GUATEMALA (GUATEMAYA) MAYAN WORLD
Duration : 99 Seconds

Tikal (or Tik'al, according to the more current orthography) is the largest of the ancient ruined cities of the Maya civilization. It is located in the El Petén department of Guatemala at 17°13′19″N, 89°37′22″WCoordinates: 17°13′19″N, 89°37′22″W. Now part of Guatemala's Tikal National Park, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular tourist spot. The closest large towns are Flores and Santa Elena, about 30 kilometers away. Tikal was one of the major cultural and population centers of the Maya civilization. Though monumental architecture at the site dates to the 4th century BC, Tikal reached its apogee during the Classic Period, ca. 200 AD to 900 AD, during which time the site dominated the Maya region politically, economically, and militarily while interacting with areas throughout Mesoamerica, such as central Mexican center of Teotihuacan. There is also evidence that Tikal was even conquered by Teotihuacan in the 4th century AD Following the end of the Late Classic Period, no new major monuments were built at Tikal and there is evidence that elite palaces were burned. These events were coupled with a gradual population decline, culminating with the site's abandonment by the end of the 10th century.

Tikal Mayan Site - District of Peten, Guatemala
Duration : 417 Seconds

Tikal is one of the largest archaeological sites and urban centres of the pre-Columbian Maya civilization. It is located in the archaeological region of the Petén Basin in what is now northern Guatemala. Situated in the department of El Petén, the site is part of Guatemala's Tikal National Park and in 1979 it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tikal was the capital of a conquest state that became one of the most powerful kingdoms of the ancient Maya. Though monumental architecture at the site dates back as far as the 4th century BC, Tikal reached its apogee during 200 to 900 AD. During this time, the city dominated much of the Maya region politically, economically, and militarily, while interacting with areas throughout Mesoamerica such as the great metropolis of Teotihuacan in the distant Valley of Mexico. There is evidence that Tikal was conquered by Teotihuacan in the 4th century AD. Following the end of the Late Classic Period, no new major monuments were built at Tikal and there is evidence that elite palaces were burned. These events were coupled with a gradual population decline, culminating with the site's abandonment by the end of the 10th century. Tikal is the best understood of any of the large lowland Maya cities, with a long dynastic ruler list, the discovery of the tombs of many of the rulers on this list and the investigation of their monuments, temples and palaces.

Tikal Mayan Jungle Ruins - Guatemala
Duration : 321 Seconds

Tikal is the largest of the ancient ruined cities of the Mayan civilization. Now part of Guatemala's Tikal National Park, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Monumental architecture at the site dates to the 4th century BC. Tikal reached its apogee during the Classic Period, ca. 200 AD to 900 AD, during which time the site dominated the Maya region politically, economically, and militarily. The ruins lie on lowland rainforest. Regarding the fauna, agouti, coatis, gray foxes, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, Harpy Eagles, Falcons, ocellated turkeys, guans, toucans, green parrots and leaf-cutting ants can be seen there regularly. Jaguars Jaguarundis and Cougars are also said to roam in the park. There are thousands of ancient structures at Tikal and only a fraction of these have been excavated after decades of archaeological work. The most prominent surviving buildings include six very large Mesoamerican step pyramids, labeled Temples I - VI, each of which support a temple structure on their summits. Some of these pyramids are over 60 meters high (200 feet). Temple I (also known as the Temple of Ah Cacao or Temple of the Great Jaguar) was built around CE 695. Tikal was a dominating influence in the southern Maya lowlands throughout most of the Early Classic. The site, however, was often at war and inscriptions tell of alliances and conflict with other Maya states, including Uaxactun, Caracol, Dos Pilas, Naranjo, and Calakmul. The site was defeated at the end of the Early ...
