Arturo Tappin is a smooth jazz and jazz/reggae saxophonist from Barbados. He has performed with Roberta Flack, Monty Alexander, and on an album by Luther Vandross. He is based in New York City, but is strongly linked to his homeland. In the late 1980s he organized the International Barbados/Caribbean Jazz Festival, which he performs at in many years. Arturo Tappin began his musical career, with formal training at Berklee College of Music. Described as a cross between the Teddy Pendergrass and Kenny G, Arturo is referred to as the smoothest, saxiest horn man the Caribbean has to offer. Influenced by the roots culture, Arturo made headway with his roots-reggae Jazz-fusion album, for his debut recording and increased the hype with a repeat performance on his second album entitled, "Java", both licensed by Pioneer Records in Japan. His dynamic live performances and his reputation for putting on explosive shows led him to perform at the Edinburgh Festival, Soho Jazz Festival, Miami AT&T Caribbean Jazz Festival, St. Lucia, Antigua, Curaçao, St. Kitts, St.Vincent, Grenada and Barbados Jazz Festivals, Arturo continued his live performance schedule at Bob Marley's Birthday Bash, James Bond Film Festival in Jamaica, and Trinidad's Independence Day celebration in Miami. Besides touring Jazz festivals the world over, Arturo has performed at social engagements as well including a performance for past United States President, Mr. Bill Clinton and twice for Fidel Castro. He has recently ...

Trinidad & Tobago Carnival 2011 - Modern and Traditional Masquerade

Enjoyed by old and young alike, tradionalists and the glitteratti, Carnival is not only glitz and glam ... but a form encapsulating historic arts and culture such as wire bending, weaving, traditional stories and heritage. We dedicate this clip to the mature folks who continue to "enjoy dey mas" and the young designers using new materials though retaining the traditions. This is why TnT's Carnival is the biggest festival in the region and has gone on to spawn some of the largest world festivals such as London Notting Hill (Europe's biggest street festival), Caribana and New York's Labor Day. Labor day 2009 Part 2 of 13
Duration : 920 Seconds

www.tradingphotos.com http www.facebook.com www.youtube.com www.facebook.com West Indian American Day Parade and Carnival 2009- Labor Day Brooklyn's the place to be. Every year thousands upon thousands of people of Caribbean descent come out to Brooklyn, New York to enjoy the parade, concerts, and related festivities associated with the West Indian American Day Parade and Carnival. Now in its 42nd year, it's one of those events that West Indians from across the US do not want to miss, and a great experience for those who are not of West Indian descent as well. All you need is a love of music and culture and partying and you'll be guaranteed a good time. In all these years, I have never made it out to this festival, however, I regularly attend Caribana in Toronto in August. This year, I hope to be in NYC so I can attend my first of what will hopefully be many years. The actual parade is on Monday, September 7 from 11:00am to 6:00pm at Brooklyn's Prospect Park (parade starts from Utica Ave and Eastern Pkwy) and is absolutely FREE. From affrodite.net BROOKLYN CARNIVAL 2009 West Indian American Day Carnival In Brooklyn Today.
