German Food: Easy Geschnetzeltes
Duration : 287 Seconds

Chef Uwe Rudnick makes an a quick and easy version of one of Germany's most popular dishes, Geschnetzeltes, (tender meat in a creamy mushroom sauce) using products available at www.GermanDeli.com Recipe Use Maggi or Knorr brand Geschnetzeltes. For each package use about 1/2 pound meat (Pork, chicken breast, or turkey breast). Slice the meat into thin strips and set on a dish. On a clean cutting board slice about 1/4 cup sliced fresh mushroom (button, crimini, baby portabellas, etc.). Heat a skillet and add 1/4-inch oil (sunflower oil or similar). Add the meat strips (chicken, turkey, or pork). Sauté the meat until lightly browned. (Cook through, but don't overcook the meat.) Remove the meat from the pan and set aside. To the pan drippings add the sliced mushrooms. Sauté the mushrooms until tender. Add about 1 cup to 1 1/2 cups of water to the pan with the mushrooms. Add the contents of one package of Fix (Maggi or Knorr). Stir until the sauce is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. Add the cooked meat to the mushroom/sauce mixture. Cook very briefly. Serve with mashed potatoes, Spätzle, noodles, or rice. Add a fresh garden salad and/or your favorite vegetable. German Food: Schweinebraten (Pork Roast) using Maggi "Fix"
Duration : 287 Seconds

Chef Uwe Rudnick from the GermanDeli Test Kitchen www.GermanDeli.com shows how easy it is to create this classic German dish using a package mix (Maggi Schweinebraten Fix) to save time and insure a delicious meal with a rich sauce. Chef Uwe suggests serving Schweinebraten with bread dumplings or potato dumpling (or even mashed potatoes or Spaetzle noodles) plus sauerkraut or red cabbage. Recipe For each package of Schweinebraten Fix www.germandeli.com use 1 pound of pork. We recommend at least two pounds of pork. Which means you'll need two packages of Fix. You may use Pork Loin, Pork Tenderloin, Pork Shoulder, or Pork Butt. In a pan with a little oil brown the pork on all sides until golden brown. Remove the pork from the pan. To the drippings in the pan add 1 cup of water per package of Fix. Stir in the contents of the Fix and stir until smooth. Return the pork and cook in the oven from 45 to 75 minutes or until the pork is cooked through and tender.

German Food: Schweinehaxe (Roasted Pork Shank)
Duration : 275 Seconds

Chef Uwe from the GermanDeli Test Kitchen www.GermanDeli.com shows how to make this classic German specialty. Schweinehaxe (also known as Schweinshaxe) is a pork shank that has been roasted until the fatty skin is brown and crisp and the meat inside is still juicy and succulent. Sold at GermanDeli.com all you have to do is Place the Schweinehaxe in a roasting pan, with half an inch or so of German beer (or water if you prefer). Salt and pepper is optional. Place the roast uncovered in a preheated 350°F oven for 4 hours. (Internal temperature must be at 160°F or above.) Remove from the oven and set the roasts on a platter. At this stage you may make a gravy from the liquid left in the pan using one of GermanDeli's many sauce or gravy mixes. Serve with sauerkraut or red cabbage, also available at www.GermanDeli.com and don't forget to add bread dumplings or potato dumplings, or boiled potatoes, or Spaetzle with all that rich gravy. Allow one Schweinehaxe for every two people. For big appetites serve one Schweinehaxe per person. A similar dish can be made using Eisbein (pork shank that has been cured in salt-brine for several days). Eisbein can be boiled with various seasoning in water for about 1-2 hours, but it is also delicious roasted in the same way shown here by Chef Uwe. RECIPE Use Schweinehaxe www.germandeli.com or - if you prefer - use Eisbein, which is salt-cured www.germandeli.com Allow one shank for every two people. For large appetites allow one shank per person ...

It's a great way to cheer your friends and family on Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve. Turn the lights down and light the sugar cone and listen to the "oohs and aahs"! Wurstsalat 1) Fleischsalat Recipe Ingredients: 1 (entire ring) of your favorite Ringwurst (Ring Bologna): www.germandeli.com 4 Medium-sized German pickles (more if you love pickles). We like www.germandeli.com OR www.germandeli.com 1 Jar Thomy Delikatess-Mayonnaise: www.germandeli.com (Note: American mayonnaise works as a substitute, but it won't be as flavorful) 1 TBLS Freshly minced parsley 1 TBLS German mustard (optional). German Food Culture
Duration : 217 Seconds

This is a short video of the important vegetables, meats, and dishes of germany. It also shows a few places that a person can get their food. As food is an important part of any culture, German food says a bit about their history and development as a society. When looking into the culture of their food, you see where the way they ate changed because of a change in power. When Charlemagne was in power, they would eat their meals then the women would leave to let the men drink and sing. The thirty years war left them hungry for food, and they would eat what ever they would find. Threw this video I hope, that it allows a person to gain knowledge of the food that helps to shape a culture!

Planet Food - Planet Food- Germany featuring Merrilees Parker
Duration : 3098 Seconds

Germany is a country that has been central to Europe since its foundation some hundred and thirty years ago. And central to this country's experience has been food, yet this remains one of the world's great unsung cuisines, generally condemned as stodgy or boring, but there is much more to Germany than sausages and sauerkraut. There is a large variety of rich culinary traditions which have developed in the different regions of Germany. A North/South divide is apparent when it comes to German food and culture. The North is influenced by Scandinavia and its closeness to the sea, while those in the South prefer lighter food, influenced by nearby Italy and Austria. Germany is a fertile land ideal for raising livestock, so pork, lamb, beef and dairy products are central to the German diet. In the days before modern refrigeration, Germans prolonged the shelf life of their meat by smoking, marinating and salting. And this led to the nation's predilection for sausages and preserved foods. In Planet Food: Germany, Merrilees Parker visits the world famous Oktoberfest where she discovers the best of German beers, as well as the Weisswurst - Bavaria's very own sausage! Nursing a hangover, she heads off to uncover the history of the pretzel and tries her hand at making the delicious Black Forest Gateau from one of the best bakers in the country. She discovers the two sides of the capital Berlin, sampling its new and sophisticated cuisine as well as its nostalgic produce that ...

Food: Currywurst & Bratwurst in Berlin
Duration : 209 Seconds

Using Nikon D90. A visit to Berlin is not complete without sampling the currywurst. A local advised the Editor that bratwurst, or at least the McDonald's burger, is much better than currywurst ("It's a working class food"). But currywurst is a proof that limitations, in this case lack of resources, can make you creative. Currywurst uses a blend of sauce made from ketchup and curry, with the sliced sausage sprinkled with curry powder. It is normally eaten on the go, by the roadside.
