German architecture has an excellent reputation but it's not neccessarily all that widespread. Brazil, for example, is home to few examples of German architecture. A group exhibition at the São Paulo Biennale is set to change that. It showcases industrial sites, galleries and residential buildings made in Germany.

The Polish city of Gdansk is home to a new stadium built for football's 2012 European Championships in Poland and Ukraine. The exterior shell recalls a ship's hull and has an amber appearance, both symbolic of city traditions. The stadium was designed by a German architecture firm working with a Polish expert - a tribute to German-Polish cooperation in a city with a German heritage.

Take a tour of Historic Town of Erfurt in Erfurt, Germany -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. This is a presentation of Third Reich era residential architecture - the houses of Reich era Germany. Many people have presented works by Speer, Troost, etc, I am doing something different. I have always had an interest in residential design. The houses featured here are typical Third Reich style - mostly middle class buildings. Although traits of these designs are found in houses from before and after the Reich, this style has a 1930s association. These houses are prized and renovated today...some Germans are not afraid of their past. The houses of this period have a high level of workmanship. So many today do not. These houses are the way things should look, this was to be a beautiful world, a sound aesthetic.

The Ulm Cathedral (Ulmer Münster) is the tallest church in the world. Its steeple measures 161.53 m (530 ft) and contains 768 steps. This church is not a cathedral but a Lutheran church; there has never been a bishop. In 1377 the foundation stone was laid. The master builder was Ulrich Ensingen, who also was one of the architects of the Strasbourg Cathedral. It was his plan to make the western church tower the tallest spire of the world, which it is to the current day. The construction of the building took a very long time. In 1890 the building finally was completed. It is an example of gothic architecture.
