Having begun her career as a goldsmith, Saskia Diez had a brief affair with industrial design, working for some time with Konstantin Grcic before returning to her first love, jewellery-making. Jewelry as an artform is only about fifty years old but it's already found its way into a museum. As well as its permanent jewelry art display the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich also honours one particular artist each year in March. In March 2011 it's the turn of Austrian artist Peter Skubic.

This is jewelry that was sold on ebay as .925 Sterling Silver, but it is not more than "silver" plated copper. Many gems were listed as amethyst, peridot and citrine, but are no more than colored quartz. Some of the jewelry exibits signs of high lead content in the metal (white powdery tarnish).
