In Igboland, this day of feasting ushers in not only the yam harvest season and bids farewell to the cultivation period, but is also a thanksgiving day. the new yam festival, in Igbo tradition, marks the culmination of a work cycle and the beginning of another. During the festival people in the community use the occasion to thank God for the arrival of the new harvest of yams (a time of plenty: a contrast to the farming season) and perform traditional special rites to declare the new yam fit for general consumption. This montage contains footage of my 'new rich' entrepreneur friends and I partying @ Kazantip, Popovka with the Russian Mafia. The party went on for a month in August 2010. I also spent last summer traveling through Germany, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, The Netherlands and Portugal before moving on to Asia. I've been traveling to over 37 countries in the past couple of years. Kazantip is one of Europe's largest music festivals drawing a large international crowd from as far as Russia, Germany and the USA. I used to work as a medical doctor before leaving to travel the world. Went broke (twice) in the process before getting to 37 countries, but learned a ton in the process...
