President opens new office of Interior Ministry 31.03.09 16:12 Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili opened the new office of the Interior Ministry in Samgori district, Tbilisi, today and spoke about the successful transformation of the state law-enforcement structure. President said that the Georgian society was no entirely free of `criminal thinking` and that if the government could be proud of reforming any sphere in the country this was the police. `We all remember the times when the country was controlled by criminals but crime bosses no longer have a desire to stay in Georgia. They are either in prisons or in Russia. We may say that our main export to Russia is not wine but the crime bosses, who are now controlling many spheres there today, ` Saakashvili said and added that even in Europe there are countries where the index of crime is 7-8 times higher than in Georgia. President said Georgian people were free of criminal Romanism and the icons of young boys are no longer the criminal authorities. `Just recollect the rime when criminal authorities used to meet the ministers in the street and give instructions how to destroy the country. Today these bosses have to meet secretly in other countries,` Saakashvili said. President also spoke about the projects, which the government conducts in various regions. `The government will finally reach the de-occupation of the country and after this Georgia will become a real European state,` Saakashvili concluded

In Georgia, that is what has just happened. On Saturday night Georgian TV channel Imedi aired a false report that caused a shockwave across the country. According to the news, Russia invaded Georgia after a terror attack on the president of South Ossetian republic, Eduard Kokoity. The report suggested that Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili and his government had been evacuated. In several minutes, however, the source reported the death of Saakashvili and creation of the Peoples government headed by one of the opposition leaders, Nino Burdzhanadze. The program, that lasted for half an hour, also reported the terrible bombardment of the countrys air and seaports and only at the end, Imedi presenters pointed out that this was a special report about possible development of the events. At the beginning of the broadcast there was also warnings that the program showed a sequence of possible events that could only occur "if Georgian society is not brought together against Russia's plans." Despite the warnings though, the report has caused panic across the country. People began calling each other and the TV studio to find out what was really happening, said RIA Novosti news agency. Georgian politicians comment on statement made by Irakli Okruashvili 2011-05-11 Georgian politicians slammed Irakli Okruashvili, former and exiled Defense Minister of Georgia and currently Leader of Georgian Party for the statement he made on May 10 regarding holding of a rally at the US Embassy in Georgia on May 16. The US government is killing democracy by assisting Saakashvili's regime, Okruashvili, leader stated in an interview with Maestro TV. According to Okruashvili, the Georgian Party will hold a rally in front of the US Embassy to Georgia to express protests against the US government on 16 May. 'We have certain plans. One of our plans is to close the tap, located at the US Embassy, which poisons the whole Georgian society', Okruashvili said, adding Russia grabs Georgian territories, while the US takes away freedom from the Georgian people. According to him, the Georgian Party has an obvious strategy for attaining victory. 'We will stage rallies in regions after 16 May. We will gradually reach to the moment when we will carry out final hit to the government', Okruashvili said. As for the methods of fight, the leader of the Georgian Party said they would use any methods for defeat of the regime. 'We will apply any method. If something extraordinary happens, the government will be responsible for it', Okruashvili said.

Charles J. Meier was in his forties when he joined Avegost. Having been a merchant in the SCA, Dagorhir, and played many LARPs throughout Georgia he was a well-traveled man with friends around the world. He was kind, loving, forgiving, and knew how to handle a problem with skill and tact. He was a leatherworker who provided many of the props for Avegost's players and staff and was always willing to do a kind deed. When a man didn't have shoes, he made them shoes so their feet would not blister at an event. He also added to the immersion of the game with his various props and presents. He was a true Avegostian. On May 22nd, 2011 at the Avegost May Event held at Laura S. Walker state park in Waycross, Georgia Charles J. Meier died around 11:30. Charles, who had complained of feeling ill both before the event and throughout it had chosen to stay at the event to be with his many friends who he had not seen in months due to a foot injury he had surgery on. Charles suffered from fatigue throughout the event but provided his signature smile, food, and good attitude to the over 40 people in attendance. Despite his feeling ill it was Charles who left site to buy medication for the several other players not feeling well. The Sunday of the May 2011 event At 11:00a.m Charles, a diabetic, marked that his insulin score was 316.
