Three Saint Mary's University students travel to The Gambia, also known as The Smiling Coast of Africa. The students discover a way of life different from what is normally portrayed by the media in North America. They travel across the nation talking to local Gambians about their lives, and ask them what they want the rest of the world to know about their lives in Africa.

Tanz- und Trommel-Workshops in der Schweiz und in Gambia - Während der Saison bieten wir in Gambia zwei- bis dreiwöchige Workshops an. Der Workshop wird von Bijou Camara und den Mitgliedern der Tanzgruppe Yongonsal sowie bekannten Musikern und TänzerInnen, die aus den National-Ensembles von Gambia und Guinea stammen, gestaltet. Tanz- und Trommel-Lektionen sind auf Anfrage das ganze Jahr über möglich. Einzelunterricht oder für nur zwei bis drei Teilnehmer. Einzel-Lektionen ist möglich mit den Instrumenten Djembé, Basstrommeln, Talking-Drums, Ballaphon und Kora. Auch traditioneller Afrikanischer Tanz kann als Einzelunterricht gebucht werden. Our school is located at the Cape Point (Bakau) at Kofi Annen Street. We specialise in traditional West African drum and dance. Classes are held at our place, a few minutes from the unspoilt beach of the Atlantic Ocean. mbolo drum and dance school invites you to experience and learn the vibrant traditions and rhythms of traditional West African music. We offer two- to three-week tailored workshops from October through April. Our workshops aim to make you enjoy an enriching collective experience. Sessions begin mid-morning and run until around 2 pm Individual and small-group tuition is available on request all the year round. Bijou Camara, our musical director and lead dancer, and his fellow members of the mbolo drum and dance school teach various instruments (djembé, dundun bass drum, talking drum, ballaphon, kora) and dance.
