I agree with FFulmenTheFinnish and that's true what he is saying. So i put it on the description that everyone can see it better. READ THIS: Stalin had been planning for the total occupation of Finland since the early 30s. He was going to do it anyhow, the Molotov-Ribbentrop just gave him free hands from the fear that Germany would intervene. The "fear Finland would invade" is a totally ridiculous excuse and anyone actually believing that bullcrap has read very little history. It's a very good thing Finland did not give into the territorial demands, like the Baltic states did, since it would've weakened Finland's defense and allowed Stalin a base inside Finland along with the fact that she would've been invaded anyway (just like the Baltic states were). The Finnish army never "crumbled" as the video says. The Mannerheim-line was breached around Summa, which led to the Soviet advance on the western part of the Isthmus that however was stopped and defeated by the intact Finnish army. On the 13th of March, the situation was risky for both sides: the Finnish army stood intact but the positions weren't so good anymore and the government feared the Soviets might manage to breach through into the mainland. However I think had the Soviets prolonged the war, their own risks would've become true. That is, war between the Allies and the USSR and possibly an ever enstrengthening Germany attacking from Poland and South-East Europe.

Battle of Kuuterselkä in 14th - 15th of June 1944 between Soviet Union and Finland. After the succesful breakthrough at Valkeasaari, the Red Army advances towards the second line of defense, the Vammelsuu-Taipale line. They mount a large spearheaded attack against the Finnish positions and puncture a deep hole at Kuuterselkä. A strong attack against the Finnish defensive line results in a breakthrough and loss of VT-line. A fierce counterattack by the finns is repelled and the finns are forced to leave VT-line as a whole.

13th-16th of June 1944, battle of Siiranmäki at the Finnish VT-line on Karelian Isthmus was the first defensive victory of the summer 1944 battles between the Finnish army and the Red Army. The Red Army was stopped at trying to break through the Vammelsuu-Taipale line. Despite a narrow victory at Siiranmäki, the finns had to abandon their formidable defense and withdraw to the last line of defense at Viipuri-Kuparsaari-Taipale line.

In 1939 American sympathy for Finland. In spite of the great publicity, Finland received little effective military help. The Swedish unit with Norwegians thrown in was the only significant foreign unit to see action. The volunteer movement made greater impact on psychological front: the Finnish people felt that they had not been totally abandoned although the sympathy without action generated some sombre comments among Finns. The fact that little effective military help managed to reach Finland was in turn proof that the Western democracies could not give any guarantees for Finland's freedom. This was even more evident when soon after the Winter War Germany occupied Denmark and Norway thus effectively cutting any routes from Finland to the West. Battle of Äyräpää-Vuosalmi 4th -16th of July in summer 1944 between Soviet Union and Finland during the Continuation War. After facing unrelentless defense by the finns at the campaign of Tali-Ihantala, the Red Army tried to break the Finnish lines at Äyräpää and Vuosalmi. This battle was to become the second biggest battle in the Continuation War.

The action prevented the second, southern supply route to the Soviet 163rd Division in the town of Suomussalmi. The Finns also cut the first, northern supply route on 13 December, and the Soviets were forced to open new supply route through Lake Kiantajärvi. The 163rd Division was nearly surrounded and suffered major casualties in Suomussalmi. The situation was getting worse, and on 20 December the commander of the 163rd Division Andrei Zelentsov asked permission to retreat from Suomussalmi. In response, part of the 44th Division, The first Battalion of the 305th Infantry Regiment, and the third Battalion of the 662nd Infrantry Regiment, were sent to reinforce the 163rd Division troops near Suomussalmi. Battle of Nietjärvi in Ladoga's Karelia during 15th-17th of July 1944 between Finland and Soviet Union. Battles on Karelian Isthmus are closing into an end in the decisive finnish defensive victories. But Viipuri-Petroskoi Offensive hasn't ended as the massive attack from Olonets Karelia on the eastern side of lake Ladoga moves towards Finland, through territories north of Ladoga. Here the finns must halt their retreat and defend against a furious attack at U-Position at lake Niet. The Finns manage to stop the russian advance through fearsome counterattacks and relentless defense.

!!! English translation comes later !!! Battle of Ilomantsi (30th of July to 9th of August 1944) between Finland and Soviet Union was the last major battle during the Continuation War. The Red Army was stopped from advancing further into Finland on Karelian Isthmus and also at Ladoga's Karelia. Now the third and last thrust of the Red Army was advancing rapidly towards the small village of Ilomantsi in North-Karelia.

Pretty awesome Finland in colour war pictures which I would like to share. Some of them are from the winter war of 1939 and the others are from the world war two. I don't have information about this photo's so if you know something about them then please tell! I only know something about the first 6 pic's. I've add Finnish or Suomi (which is Finnish for Finland) music. Songs; - Finnish Suomi SS Potpourri (that's a mix of different Finnish songs which you may know since they are 'stolen' from the Germans) - Suomi Marssi (sounds just like the Englandlied) - Div. SS Wiking - Asevoikka (Suomi) (sounds like ' mein guter Kamerad, ich hatt einen kameraden' ) I guess they also sing something that's pretty alike to what the Germans sing so that's why I've add the graveyard pictures there.
