The documentary film follows female candidates during the last campaigning weeks of the Finnish parliamentary election of 2011. It shares the atmosphere, excitement and experiences of different campaigning events across the country. The documentary illustrates how female candidates share many similar challenges, but are often able to overcome them with creativity, determination and collaboration. Women's participation in politics is essential to maintain equality and to ensure that women's points of view are incorporated into national policies. The documentary hopes to serve as a tool for those who might benefit from the experiences of Finnish woman politicians. H1N1 vaccinations which made many children ill for the rest of their lives. Allowing aspartame and many other chemical additives in food. Joining wars in far-away countries like Somalia, Afganistan etc. Plans to sell all Drinking Water to a multinational corporation. Selling of All Finnish companies to outsiders which make any profit, including: banks,dairies,factories etc etc... I could go on but you get the picture.

n his first (and only) speech, the invisible Labour Leader David Shearer said he would try to make New Zealand more like Finland. He forgot to mention, among other things, that Finland has higher unemployment than New Zealand, it still has farm subsidies, and many there still resent the 90s reforms enacted by the Leader that Shearer says he admires. Finland is not the Scandinavian paradise that Labour pretends it is. It has its own set of problems.

Sofia and Asiya from Finnish NGO in Helsinki, Asda RY speak about their views on politics in Finland in April 2011 during the run up to elections. Find out whether Finnish young people are engaged in politics and why that might be, if young people have enough of an active voice and if that affects their interest in voting. Asiya tells us what she would do if she was a politician. They were interviewed as part of the Train the trainer, "Youth4Politics" project which invited 24 young people to Helsinki for a week long media project so they could develop key skills while engaging with politics. About the Speaker: HE Jaakko Iloniemi, one of Finland's most distinguished foreign policy analysts. He is a former Finnish Ambassador to the USA, Ambassador to the CSCE and Deputy Head of Mission to the United Nations. Mr. Iloniemi has been awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the White Rose of Finland for his foreign policy achievements and was Chancellor of the Order from 1997 until 2004. He is currently a member of the European Council of Foreign Relations. About the Speech: HE Jaakko Iloniemi portrayed Finland as a nation that has gradually grown accustomed to increasing regional integration. Like many of their partners, Finns recognise the economic and practical benefits of EU membership, yet some emotional reservations persist. Iloniemi traced Finland's long but cautious involvement in international cooperative initiatives. With its Nordic neighbours it created a visa-free travel area and a common labour market. In 1961 Finland joined the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), attracted by the idea that cooperation was strictly confined to the economic domain and EFTA had no political aspirations. Opinion was more divided on EU accession but an advisory referendum passed with 54% of the vote and Finland became an EU member in 1995. Iloniemi admitted that Finnish politics is generally considered "quite a bore" -- by the public as well as by international commentators.
