WASHINGTON, DC (Nov 20) - WASHINGTON, DC - Ethiopian Muslims on Monday denounced the interference of the Ethiopian government in the affairs of the religious rights of the Muslim community in the country. Several hundreds of Muslims took to the streets here in Washington, DC to appeal to the White House to see to the plight of the Muslim faithful which is facing a new, divisive and dangerous threat from the Meles Zenawi regime. Carrying banners that read "We demand freedom of religion equally for all!", "No compulsion in religion!" "We condemn demolition of mosques!", the Muslim protesters condemned the prohibition of Salat [prayers] and Hijab [a head covering worn by some Muslim women]. The protesters also chanted slogans that the Mejlis religious leaders were not the legitimate representatives of Ethiopian Muslims. Watch video.
