The Estonian War of Independence, which occurred in 1918-1920, took place during the Russian Civil War, was the Republic of Estonia's struggle for sovereignty in the aftermath of World War I and the Russian Revolution. It resulted in a victory for Estonia and was concluded in the Tartu Peace Treaty. The war games will see hundreds of military enthusiasts follow the route taken by Nazi sypthathisers and saboteurs who laid the groundwork for the invasion of Estonia in 1941.

The believed reason behind these attacks is because of the preparations to remove the Soviet-Era Bronze Soldier, a World War 2 monument. The initial attacks included the sites of the Estonian President, Prime Minister, and Parliament, to name a few. The attacks were considered "unsophisticated" and seemed like a "cyber riot" instead of "cyber war". US Estonian contacts saw these as political attacks, coming from Russia. Russian forums gave out tools to people to carry out attacks. The initial attacks were spam, and defacing web sites. The press of Estonia swiftly accused Moscow of being responsible, blaming the attacks on their objections to the movement of the statue. On April 30th, a more co-ordinated attack including DDoS attacks began taking down sites of the Estonian Government. Part 1 - The Construction. The War of Independence Victory Column is located in Freedom Square, Tallinn, Estonia. It was opened on 23rd June 2009 as a memorial for those who fell during the Estonian War of Independence, through which the people of Estonia will be able to commemorate all those who had fought for freedom and independence. The idea of creating a monument was conceived in 1919, before the end of the war. During the liberation war of 1918-1920 6275 people were killed, and many more wounded. In 1936 a law was passed to establish nation-wide monument in commemoration of the Liberation War. Preparatory work was interrupted by the Second World War and subsequent Soviet annexation. After Estonia regained independence the question of establishing a nation-wide monument for the commemoration of the Liberation War was raised. In spring 2005, the Parliament of Estonian decided that a column of victory in memory of the War will be erected in Freedom Square in Tallinn. The pillar is 23.5 meters high and consists of 143 specially designed and strengthened glass plates. The memorial incorporates the Cross of Liberty, Estonias most distinguished award established in 1919. The monument complex cost around 11 million $ dollars.

WW2 combat footage. German Wartime Newsreel. The Battle of Narva was a battle, or more correctly a campaign, which took place in the first months of 1944 for city of Narva in Estonia. The battle was fought on the Eastern Front during World War II between the forces of the German Heeresgruppe Nord and the Soviet Volhkov and Leningrad Fronts. The first phase of the battle is documented here, entitled The Battle for the Narva Bridgehead. This battle took place in the first half of 1944. The second phase of the related battles are called Battle of the Tannenberg Line. The battle is also known as The Battle of the European SS for the large number volunteers and conscripts within the Waffen SS from Estonia, Norway, Denmark, Holland and Belgium engaged on the German side. Although it was an overall Soviet victory, the small German force managed to hold off a Soviet advance for over several months.
