The Food Bank in Tallinn is the first one in Estonia and it follows examples in other European countries - food banks are there to share food with deprived people, food that otherwise would have been destroyed. Food Banks are specialists in bringing food from places where it is in surplus to places where there is need. Estonian Food Bank operates as an independent organisation, with a small staff and a group of volunteers.

A report by Ángel Varela Pena. We are in Tallin, the capital of Estonia and European Cultural Capital for2011. The tiny Baltic country has become a good example of using the Internet for free. Estonia obtained its independence from the Soviet Union 20 years ago. Before 1991, it was difficult to have computers, but in 2011 Estonia has become the country which creates companies such as Skype and Kazaa. What is its secret? The former journalist and politician Marko Mihkelson explains this revolution. In 2007, Estonia became the first country in the world to hold online legislative elections. This is the concept established in Estonia. It began as the "Let´s Do It" project. Let´s have a look at a global project created here: "Let´s Do IT" At the beginning, a friend´s group asked themselves why they were living in the midst of garbage if the people had the solution. A founding engineer of Skype created this application to find garbage. Thanks to thousands of volunteers, a local idea has become a global idea. Estonia has a smaller population than Barcelona, but almost everybody has a laptop and a blog. The creator of Nami Nami blog has been passionate about cooking since she was a child. Estonia obtained its dependence and Pille continued her way. While she was doing (post) graduate studies in Scotland she started writing a blog about Estonian food.It was an instant success. www.TravelsWithSheila.com All Baltic cruise ships dock in Tallinn (without exception) because of its charm and compactness. Even using EEKS (their currency), it was shocking how expensive all three Baltic countries were. Those cute little hats ran over $80 US and I sadly left them behind. A person could walk the streets for days on end and still discover something new to see in Tallinn, but my big thrill was the abundance and variety of sweet rolls Both ex-Marine (husband, Steve) and I promptly went into clogging-the-arteries mode and demolished at least two sweet rolls each every day. We did briefly consider creating a best-selling "Nothing But Sweet Rolls Diet"....
