www.iidadesign.eu | http IIDA is a salon in the Old Town of Tallinn that sells Estonian textile, design and fashion. The salon will be open from the beginning of May (2008) on Suur-Karja Street. It will mainly feature the designs and creations of Kristina Viirpalu and Eva-Liisa Kriis. The salon will sell clothes, jewellery, decorative textiles and other related designs. There will be a separate display/exhibition space for jewellery, where different Estonian jewellery designers can participate.

KRISTIAN STEINBERG Designer, Estonia (Kristian Steinberg) www.kristiansteinberg.com Kristian Steinberg was born in Tallinn, Estonia in 1976. The family fled Soviet Union to start a new life in Sweden, 'Moving to Sweden and leaving everything behind has taught me to start over at any point, and with even stronger enthusiasm.' He discovered his passion for fashion while doing a degree in Chemistry at the Royal University of Technology in Stockholm and went on to study at University College of Arts Craft and Design and the famous Stockholm Academy - a strict institution specialised in traditional cutting and tailoring. Following his dream, Kristian applied for menswear course at London's Central St Martins, where he continued to develop a strong signature of anatomical cutting - inspired by the anatomy of the human body- and ultra tailoring. His final collection was being chosen to represent St Martins at Weekend Le Vif in Brussels. Music has been Kristians constant muse: 'My collections are born from music- I want them to live like a rock star, and die when the last fan has died." Kristian has spent years learning every side of the industry - from classical tailoring and textile arts to menswear design - and cut couture dresses for clients like HRH Queen Rania of Jordan and Kylie Minogue. He has worked next to designers like Alexander McQueen, Rafael Lopez, Amanda Wakeley and Marios Schwab. Kristian Steinberg's signature style is edgy and futuristic, yet extremely wearable ...

Estonian glam rock band Polyphon makes a show on stage in 1974 or 1975. Filmed by Heino Maripuu. Polyphon was succesful Estonian glam rock band in 70s led by singer and songwriter Oleg Sõlg (died in 2006 after series of "comeback" shows Polyphon in 2005) made also a very huge smash in 1978 in Latvian town called Liepaja. Riots in streets started after local Soviet power stopped the prefomance of the band. After the violent protests KGB (!) suggested allow the band to perform once again. Polyphon got the constant ban in Estonia after that and they were renamed to Consilium.
