The Tale of Sinuhe
Duration : 486 Seconds

The Tale of Sinuhe is considered one of the finest works of Ancient Egyptian literature. It is about the death of Pharaoh Amenemhet I, founder of the 12th dynasty of Egypt (1938-1756 BC). There is an ongoing debate among Egyptologists as to whether or not the tale is based on actual events involving an individual named Sinuhe, or if it is mixed with a work of fiction. There are also multiple scenarios said to have taken place within the story, we have selected certain options of the tale to emphasize on; although there are some parts of the story told differently by different people. Another ending to the tale involves pharaoh Sesostris I ending up inviting Sinuhe to return to Egypt, forgiving him for his real or imagined crimes and welcoming him with rich gifts; thereafter Sinuhe married in his homeland while the pharaoh ordered a fine tomb build for him. Also, during the story, when Sinuhe fled to "Thebes in Greece", it was not fully proven to actually be Greece that he ran to. Although we chose to use Greece for this particular movie; some sources say that Sinuhe fled to Upper Retjenu (Canaan) opposed to Thebes. Abeer Soliman - Writers Unlimited
Duration : 206 Seconds

The Egyptian writer Abeer Soliman will perform at the Writers Unlimited festival in The Hague, 20 to 24 January 2011. She introduces herself, talks about her Great Expectations, and about the writers that influenced her in her youth. Abeer Soliman (Egypt, 1977) made her debut in 2010 with Diary of an Old Spinster, which was such a success that it was sold out very soon. In the book -- based on the blog of the same name that she wrote -- Soliman tells how it is to live as a single woman in Egypt. 'It is the diary of a liberated woman, seen from the perspective of my generation,' she says in the introduction. Her aim is primarily to open the eyes of her countrymen, who often condemn single women in word and deed. Elderly single women without children often face problems in Egyptian society. According to official figures, in 2009 2700 Egyptian women committed suicide because they couldn't cope any longer. In addition to being a writer Abeer Soliman is a columnist with the newspaper El Dustour and a business development manager. Moreover, she is the spokeswoman of the Arab Network for Human Rights Information. In that capacity she regularly speaks out against the suppression of women in the Arab world.

We are happy to release a video detailing the use of our authentic Words of Power. We also enclose information regarding the use of our Words of Power Medallion. This medallion will allow users who have not been directly empowered by my wife and I to use the Words. To date, we have not distributed the secret words given to us by our divine contacts. The time for change has come. We have been allowed to release the full format of the authentic words of power that have been utilized since ancient times. These words are an extremely powerful set of spiritual tools. The precise use and application of this technology has been hidden from the public for more than 3400 years. These sacred words may be used for the purpose of healing the sick, casting out unclean spirits, drawing success and prosperity, improving relationships and sexual energy, and enhancing your spiritual growth and evolution. We will not release words related to raising the dead or left-handed practices. A large part of ancient Egyptian literature is founded in the use of divine words and phrases. According to their beliefs, the God Thoth used these divine words to speak all creation into existence. For many of the inhabitants of India and other countries of the Far East, the intonation of special words of power or "Mantras" is an essential part of daily living. A number of ancient Tibetan and Hindu texts are filled with special words that are designed to bring success in love, cure disease, and even prevent ...

The Surprising History of Egypt with Terry Jones
Duration : 3008 Seconds

Documentary that brings to light the little-known secrets and habits, manners and more of the common folk in the long-dead civilization of ancient Egypt. The program reveals that Egyptian women were on equal footing with men in all aspects of society, including wages and property ownership. Paper originated in Egypt, allowing for the development of the sciences, art and literature. These discoveries establish how attached to life the ancient Egyptians were and discards the supposition that because of their elaborate tombs, they were more focused on death and the afterlife. Terry Jones brings the everyday details of the ancients Egyptians - bizarre, hilarious or shocking - to life in this wonderfully entertaining and factually revealing film. Uncovering hidden gems such as the peculiar hobby of building and decorating one's own tomb as an enjoyable pastime and disclosing unknown facts on the integral part played by the River Nile in ancient life, Terry goes far beyond the conventional and brings to life the world of the ancient Egyptians through the more obscure eccentricities of their behaviour.

The Famed Alexandrian Library of Egypt part 1 of 5
Duration : 601 Seconds

The Royal Library of Alexandria, or Ancient Library of Alexandria, in Alexandria, Egypt, was probably the largest, and certainly the most famous, of the libraries of the ancient world. It flourished under the patronage of the Ptolemaic dynasty, and functioned as a major center of scholarship, at least until the time of Rome's conquest of Egypt, and probably for many centuries thereafter. Generally thought to have been founded at the beginning of the third century BC, the library was conceived and opened either during the reign of Ptolemy I Soter or during the reign of his son Ptolemy II. Plutarch (AD 46120) wrote that during his visit to Alexandria in 48 BC, Julius Caesar might have accidentally burned the library when he set fire to his own ships to frustrate Achillas' attempt to limit his ability to communicate by sea.[citation needed] According to Plutarch's account, this fire spread to the docks and then to the library. However, this version of events is not confirmed in contemporary accounts of Caesar's visit. In fact, it has been reasonably established that segments of its collection were partially destroyed on several occasions before and after the first century BC. A modern myth (no older than the late eighteenth century) attributes the destruction to Coptic Christian Archbishop Theophilus of Alexandria in 391, who called for the destruction of the Serapeum; but in fact there was no connection between the library and the Serapeum and some historians of late ...
