On 23 August 1913 the famous statue of Hans Christian Andersen's Little Mermaid was unveiled. The statue was created by the Danish sculptor Edvard Eriksen, and donated to the city of Copenhagen by brewer Carl Jacobsen of the Carlsberg Breweries. Every year on this date her birthday is celebrated with a number - equivalent to that of her age - of young women jumping into Copenhagen Harbor and forming her age on the waves. This film is from her 94th birthday in 2007. On shore is music, balloons, singing of Happy Birthday and other activities to pay homage to this famous old lady and Copenhagen's landmark. Seventh clip from our tour in may 2008. It begins at Paklenica National Park (close to Zadar) in Croatia. Then we headed for Lukovo (50 miles from Rijeka). The road between Zadar and Rijeka was absolutely first class. So many turns and so much beauty; it was amazing! Highly recommendable this strech..would wish we didn't have that much stuff packed on the bike but still:-) Pls watch in high quality!

If you haven't been snoozing under a rock, you would have heard mention somewhere about the great bicycle culture in Copenhagen, Denmark. We took a vacation there in June 2011 and rented some bicycles to ride around the city. With a video camera awkwardly strapped to my chest, I was able to film some of the experience from a first-person perspective. I hope you will enjoy this video and try biking in Copenhagen someday yourself! Note: Before anyone asks, I'd like to point out that they do indeed have lots of very nice dedicated bike lanes along with bike traffic lights, but we happened to not ride on them while filming this video. And yes, lots of women ride their bikes in skirts! It is totally normal to do that there and not considered scandalous. The men don't seem to behave like perverts and try to peer at their panties. Just another example of how civilized their citizenry is- at least when they are not drunk on Carlsberg beer. =)
