More than 80 Israeli soldiers and reservists have signed a petition of support for a military commander who was filmed assaulting a Danish pro-Palestinian activist. Lieutenant Colonel Shalom Eisner was suspended after the video emerged showing him hitting Andreas Ias in the face with an M16 rifle as he tried to disperse a demonstration. The incident happened on Saturday when a group of foreign and Palestinian cyclists attempted to block a main road near Jericho to protest against Israel's occupation of the West Bank. Such behaviour has no place in the Israeli defence forces or in the state of Israel. Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister Lt Col Eisner told military investigators that two of his fingers had been broken in an attack by the Danish campaigner before he retaliated with his weapon. Mr Ias, an activist with the pro-Palestinian International Solidarity Movement, responded that any claims that he had used violence were a "complete lie". The Palestinian cameraman who filmed the incident also insisted that the activists had been conducting an entirely peaceful protest. Several other activists were reported to have been injured in scuffles with Israeli troops. In a letter to the Chief of Staff of Israel's military, Lt General Benny Gantz, 83 soldiers, officers and reservists who have served under Lt Col Eisner said that he was a "moral and ethical" commander. This is a short film that I made for the 2004 Nordisk Film Video Marathon in Copenhagen, Denmark. Everyone was given just 36 hrs to write, direct, shoot, and edit a video, plus compose music based on the theme of terrorism. The theme of my entry was the idea that real terrorism is in the mind. My chances looked promising when my video was among the finalists. But then, my video was suddenly disqualified, for reasons that were never disclosed to me. You be the judge. A court in Denmark has found a Somali man guilty of attempted terrorism for trying to kill a cartoonist whose portrayal in 2005 of the prophet Mohammad, led to outrage in the muslim world. Satirist Kurt Westergaard is seen as a symbol of freedom and democracy in Denmark, and local media say that is what led to the terror verdict, because it was seen as an attack on the nation as a whole. CHICAGO — Two Chicago men are charged with plotting terrorist attacks against overseas targets, including at a Danish newspaper that sparked outrage throughout the Muslim world by publishing cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad, prosecutors announced Tuesday. David Coleman Headley, 49, and Tahawwur Hussain Rana, 48, were charged in separate complaints filed Tuesday in US District Court in Chicago. Headley told FBI agents that the initial plan called for an attack against the newspaper building in Copenhagen, but he later proposed just killing the paper's cartoonist and former cultural editor, according to an FBI affidavit released Tuesday. Prosecutors said Headley traveled to Denmark to identify potential targets for a terrorist attack and that Rana helped arrange Headley's travel. Headley is charged with conspiracy to commit terrorist acts involving murder and maiming outside the United States. He could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted. He was arrested Oct. 3 at O'Hare International Airport as he boarded a flight to Philadelphia, the first leg of a trip to Pakistan. Headley and Rana are each charged with conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorism conspiracy, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. Rana was arrested Oct. 18 in his home. I mirror this outstanding clip of DENMARK People's Party ad in which it declares that it will not submit to stealth genocide. In Copenhagen an office block was the target for an alleged New Year attack. It is the home of Danish daily newspaper Jyllands-Posten that outraged Muslims in 2005 when it published cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed. Islamic extremists in the United States have traditionally set up shop in big cities with large Muslim populations: places like New York City, Dearborn, Michigan and even Washington, DC. But one secretive group is doing just the opposite. They call themselves Muslims of America. They've established compounds throughout the rural US Members say they moved to the countryside to lead peaceful lives free of "Western decadence." But others say that doesn't tell the whole story. "Certainly, when you're in a rural area it enables you to better escape from the prying eyes of law enforcement," said CBN News consultant David Gartenstein-Ross. He says Muslims of America has close ties to a violent Pakistani group named Jamaat Al-Fuqra. Both groups are led by the same extremist cleric: Sheikh Mubarak Gilani. "Sheikh Gilani is an extremist figure known to be very much involved in the jihads against India, also known to be very much anti-Semitic," Gartenstein-Ross said. Gilani's images and messages are all over the Muslims of America Web site. He founded the group during a visit to Brooklyn in 1980. Shoe bomber Richard Reid and Beltway sniper John Allen Muhammed are said to have been among his followers. Gilani encouraged his US pupils-mostly African Americans-to move to rural areas and establish Muslim communes. The group now has dozens of these communes nationwide.
