Inside Danish landscape paintings - painted around 1800...
Duration : 277 Seconds

I enjoy doing landscape photography / videography and often find that old Danish landscape paintings can be extremely inspirational. I stumbled upon these paintings on a Copenhagen museum website that is presenting landscape paintings from around 1800. The late 18th century saw some large changes in Denmark as farmers were granted ownership of their farms and workers were granted the right to take up jobs outside the local area where they grew up as serfdom was abolished. Denmark was still ruled by a King but people still felt a lot of freedom compared to earlier. These paintings try to illustrate the new reality in Denmark during the period between 1780 and 1810. 1807, the British Navy bombed Copenhagen and seized the Danish Navy (Europe's second largest - since Denmark had allied with Napoleon's France) and 1813 Denmark went bankrupt, so the hardships weren't over yet.

Paul Gauguin: Denmark to Brittany to the Caribbean and Back
Duration : 219 Seconds

Seattle Art Museum presents the only United States stop for "Gauguin & Polynesia: An Elusive Paradise," a landmark show highlighting the complex relationship between Paul Gauguin's work and the art and culture of Polynesia. The exhibition, on view at SAM Downtown February 9 through April 29, 2012, includes about 50 of Gauguin's brilliantly hued paintings, sculptures and works on paper, which are displayed alongside 60 major examples of Polynesian sculpture that fueled his search for the exotic. Organized by the Art Centre Basel, the show is comprised of works on loan from some of the world's most prestigious museums and private collections. Gauguin (1848--1903) is one of the most influential and celebrated artists of the late nineteenth century. From early on in his career he yearned for the exotic in both his life and his work. While his Polynesian experience was a defining factor in both his art and his posthumous reputation, many exhibitions devoted to his work have treated the artist's direct relationship with Polynesian art as one small part of his larger enterprise. Through a balanced analysis of Polynesian art alongside Gauguin's works, this exhibition shifts the emphasis and brings Polynesian arts and culture into the center of Gauguin studies. For more information about "Gauguin & Polynesia: An Elusive Paradise," visit seattleartmuseum.org.

Asger Jorn
Duration : 335 Seconds

en.wikipedia.org Asger Oluf Jorn (March 3, 1914 - May 1, 1973) was a founding member of the Situationist International, and a prolific artist and essayist. He was born in Vejrum, in the northwest corner of Jutland, Denmark and baptized Asger Oluf Jørgensen. In 1946 he changed his name into Asger Oluf Jorn. He traveled again to France where he was a founding member of COBRA (a European avant-garde art movement), and edited monographs of the Bibliotheque Cobra. He returned, impoverished, to Silkeborg in 1951 and resumed work in the ceramics field in 1953. The following year he traveled to Albisola in Italy where he became involved with an offshoot of COBRA, the International Movement For An Imaginist Bauhaus. He met Guy Debord in 1954, who was to became a close friend. The two men collaborated on two artist's books, Fin de Copenhagen (1957) and Mémoires (1959), along with prints, and forewords to each other's work. He was a prime mover of the merger of the COBRA with the Lettriste Internationale and London Psychogeographical Association to form the Situationist International (SI) in 1957. Here he applied his scientific and mathematical knowledge drawn from Henri Poincaré and Niels Bohr to develop his situlogical technique. In 1961 he left the SI, largely as a consequence of the fact that he was becoming a well-known artist which did not sit well with the SI, although his own departure was voluntary (which in itself was unusual for the SI, as it was prone to frequent purges ...

AROS Museum in Arhus Denmark,
Duration : 122 Seconds

The AROS is a unique buidling full of modern and classical art including some real "unusual" art, some wonderful paintings and even a few pieces which beggars belief that it is really art. Some of these so called artists seem to just be putting a bunch of stupid things together and calling it artAnd some of the paintings look like a 4 year old did flworth a visit, but the modern art floor can be skipped in my opinion. Only 2 or 3 pieces of real art there! The other floors are impressive.

In the latter he has been prize-awarded several times. Links: www.stefanblondal.com www.dk.touchofart.eu Vocal: Boris Grebenshchikov Music: Alexander Vertinsky (1889 - 1957) Lyrics: Nadezhda Teffi (1872 - 1952) English translation: Igor To the Cape of Joy or to the Cliffs of Grief, to the Islands of Lavender Skies, - just wherever we moor to achieve relief, our eyelids are weary to rise. Muddy portholes are looking pictorial: palms of Tropics and icebergs of blue, golden gardens of time immemorial, all this slowly appears into view. But wherever we moor to achieve relief, to the islands of lavender skies, to the Cape of Joy or to the Cliffs of Grief, our eyelids are weary to rise.

Skagen museum - Denmark/ Dänemark - music by Mozart
Duration : 437 Seconds

**READ IT!** I made that video for my own, but after a few month I decide that sharing is a good idea. I really adore that paintings. And if you have tha change to visit Skagen, you´ll fell in love on the first sight. More about the museum: From the beginning of the 1870s, and up to the turn of the century, Skagen was an international venue for young artists. They all had in common that they, inspired by naturalism and open-air painting, sought new places and motifs, and during the course of the 1880s Skagen was transformed into an artists colony with room for both work and play. The artists favourite motifs were the fishermen working on the beaches, the tiny fishermens cottages, the landscape and the artists social life. Already during their own lifetime the Skagen artists achieved world fame at prominent exhibitions abroad. If you´ll visting the homepage... www.skagensmuseum.dk

Nancy Denmark Flame Painting Copper Cross
Duration : 159 Seconds

Watch the dance of the torch and the color grow. Finished pieces available for purchase can be found on my website: nancydenmark.com I claim no expertise in this process. I'm just experimenting and having fun with it. I had my camera in my left hand and the torch in the right hand and was rightly, more focused on the torch than the camera. The coloring action does not come this quickly. The video has been edited to start as the color begins to happen. I am using my Smith Equipment's Little Torch with propane and oxygen (what I use for soldering jewelry). Still shots of this work can be viewed on my business facebook page. Come on over and "like" it at www.facebook.com

PAUL GUSTAVE FISCHER Danish painter Esther Budiardjo Music
Duration : 233 Seconds

Paul Gustave Fischer (22 July 1860, Copenhagen -- 1 May 1934 Gentofte) was a Danish painter. Paul Fischer: Sunbathing in the Dunes, 1916 Paul Fischer belongs to the fourth generation of Fischers to live in Denmark. This Jewish family originally came from Poland. The family was upper middle class; Paul's father had started as a painter, but later succeeded in the business of manufacturing paints and lacquers.[1] His formal art education lasted only a short time in his mid teens when he spent two years at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen. Fischer began to paint when he was still young, guided by his father. It was thanks to a painting he had published in Ude og Hjemme that his reputation began to evolve as he came in contact with young Danish naturalists. His earlier paintings depict city life. After a stay in Paris from 1891-1895, his colours became richer and lighter. It was not long before Fischer gained fame as a painter of cities, not just Copenhagen, but scenes from Scandinavia, Italy and Germany, reaching his zenith between 1890 and 1910. He benefited from contemporaries in Norway and Sweden, especially Carl Larsson. Around this time, he also painted bright, sunny bathing scenes, some with nude women, and developed an interest in posters, inspired by Théophile Steinlen and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. During the period when he actively painted, Danish art was dominated by Laurits Tuxen. Despite Fischer's lack of critical recognition during his lifetime ...
