This is the third part to a series of documentaries on Racism. This part examines the current situation in the Czech Republic with regard to mainstream society and the Roma Czech minority. We examine the rise of extremist groups, the reactions of Czech society, and recent events in the Czech Republic. This documentary was created as part of the Scholarship.cz project, which offers Roma students a four-year full tuition scholarship at a university in Prague.

Česká společnost chirurgie ruky uspořádala ve dnech 22. a 23. října 2009 v Regionálním centru Olomouc svůj desátý sjezd. Záštitu nad touto konferencí převzal například olomoucký arcibiskup Mons. Jan Graubner či ředitel Fakultní nemocnice v Olomouci MUDr. Radomír Maráček. Pod vedením MUDr. Bohumila Zálešáka, primáře oddělení plastické a estetické chirurgie z Fakultní nemocnice v Olomouci, se odborníci zabývající se problematikou chirurgie ruky z České republiky i ze zahraničí podělili o své poznatky a zkušenosti se svými kolegy. V rámci sjezdu proběhlo několik workshopů českých a zahraničních specialistů. Jednou z četných přednášek a prezentací byla i více než 45min panelové diskuze na téma „Rhisarthrosis -- kdy, proč, jak". Diskuze se zúčastnilo několik předních českých odborníků, zabývajících se problematikou rizartrózy. Při natáčení byl kromě dvou HDTV kamer použit i kamerový jeřáb ABC Traveller s motorizovanou dálkově ovládanou hlavou ABC Remote Head V5.

Josiah Venture (JV) is a large multi-nation ministry, led by Dave Patty, an American with a long history of ministry within Europe. We partner with the Czech Republic branch of JV called KAM and director Dusan Drabina. JV's mission is to foster "a movement of God among the youth of Eastern Europe that finds its home in the local church and transforms society." On the horizon, Josiah Venture is getting involved in a project with the Czech Ministry of Education helping to develop an ethics program that will be implemented in the public schools. JV is also developing aspects of church planting in most, if not all of its ministry locations. Results: CB of Pisek-Elim has hosted many outreach events to build relationships and communicate to the community that "church" is a positive experience and that God is very real and personal. JV has made incredible inroads in the public arena through such initiatives as EXIT 316, an evangelistic television program that was shown on national television, reaching hundreds of thousands with the good news. Radio Free Europe said Friday, March 12, that Islam was introduced to Czechs by immigrants from Muslim countries who come to live and study in this Central European country. Vladimir Sanka, the head of the Islamic Center, based in the Czech capital, Prague, is one of several hundred new reverts to Islam throughout the country and one of some 20000 Muslims nationwide. The long ago predominantly atheist and Roman Catholic country came in touch with Islam only 15 years ago after the end of communist rule, the Radio said. Sanka, 40, was born into an atheistic family and received, like all Czechs, an atheistic education at school and in university. Nine years ago, he reverted to Islam. In 1995, Sanka became the head of the Islamic Center and an imam in Prague's only mosque. In the Czech Republic, children are required by law to undergo vaccination, whether their parents agree with the practice, or not. The student association "Jurist" held a discussion seminar on Charles University's Law Faculty last week. The theme of the seminar was "The constitutionality of compulsory vaccination of minors in the Czech Republic". Discussion focused on promoting the rights of individuals in receiving medical care in the compulsory vaccination of minors. [Zuzana Candigliota, Human Rights League Lawyer] "There is continuity in the way of thinking from the communist era, people can't recognize what is actually still acceptable and what is not. That is why there are such big discrepancies." But there are more and more voices calling for voluntary vaccination, and also for improving the awareness of parents and pediatricians. [ Jana Mlada MD, State Institute for Drug Control]: "We must consider all the benefits that vaccination has for a child. For example, there is a "hexavaccine" - it is intended against tetanus, which can kill in fifty percent of cases." The problem is that both of these approaches have pros and cons. Hare Krishnas from Czech Republic and elsewhere created Krishna Camp, providing music, dance, and spiritual vegetarian food at the Trutnov Open Air Music Festival (Czech Woodstock), attended by thousands of people. Many people enjoyed both the music and food and visited Krishna Camp frequently, sometimes several times a day, quite a few saying, "You have the best food at the whole event!" Both individuals and organizations involved in this scheme are now awarded the "Gypsy Spirit" prize. A new project - "Gypsy Spirit" - is starting up in Slovakia. The project is publicizing the work of different ventures that aim at integrating Gypsies into society, while renewing the important traditional values of Gypsy culture. The Roma Gypsies are known for their musical talent -- as featured in unique performances by the musical band, "Gypsy Devils." [Lejla Abbasova, Organizer]: "I believe the project Gypsy Spirit will help a little to point out the positive nature of the Roma; mainly to show that they absolutely can be a great enrichment for us. We just have to be able to accept their differences as a contribution." Gypsy Spirit was announced in the Czech Republic by Ex-minister for human rights and minorities, Michael Kocab.
