Surrounded by vineyards and orchards and overlooking an unspoilt panorama of rolling hills and deep blue sea, the course features a magnificent elevated driving range with 16 booths and dramatic mountain views. Its large purpose built clubhouse provides an introduction into the design concept of the residences and serves as a focal point for the whole of Minthis Hills. Hole 14 - Signature Hole Minthis Hills signature hole is designed by Tom Mackenzie, a winding cart path takes you across waste land to a tee built into the side of the hill. Your drive must find a fairway that is built up out of the valley and lined with traditional Cyprus stone. The wall marks the edge of the course and then of course out of bounds. To the right is a large slope planted heavily with large olive tree's that will obstruct your view if you lose your ball to the right. A relatively short par 4 is not as easy as the scorecard suggests. The green is raised from the fairway and bunkers in the slope up to the green seem to attract your ball. Omodos is a charming little village in the mountains and while it attracts a lot of holidaymakers, it still retains a character and traditions. Its also a great place to eat, drink and shop. Omodos is best known to be the wine centre of the inland region. A festival is usually celebrated during the month of August and they have a large religious event on the month of September. In the centre of this village lies the Monastery of the Holy Cross, which contains an alleged fragment of the Holy Rood the cross on which Christ was crucified and brought to Cyprus by St Helen in 327 AD. The skull of St Philip, the fifth Apostle, is also there and its preserved in a silver casket. Religious, cultural and thrivin. Here you'll find plenty of local crafts like leather bags, belts and clothes, pottery, copperware and lace. Tourists are generally very familiar with the beaches and the coastal resorts but many are unaware that there is a stunning inland with mountains, pine forests and waterfalls this area is a paradise for nature and outdoor lovers. For the sun worshipper leaving the beaches and the bars isn't easy but you'll be rewarded for your willpower if you drive up into the Troodos Mountains. Castles are an integral part of the history of Cyprus and they should be part of your sight seeing tour. The castle behind me is Kolossi Castle and it also lends its name to the famous Commandaria Wine. The castle and the grounds itself evoke a peaceful feeling, even though the building is quite empty inside. The stonework is incredible and most visitors will enjoy exploring the staircases and battlements as well as the grounds. If you let your imagination run wild it is easy to be whisked back hundreds of years and picture life in and around this splendid building. Lydia Kyprianides, Cyprus Tourism Guide says The Castle of Kolossi takes us back to medieval period the time of the knight of Saint John of Jerusalem 13th century when the conquered the island of Richard the Lionheart who conquered the island 1191, got married with Berengaria in the castle of Limassol and then becoming the next worthy Knight Saint John of Jerusalem. The Castle was built in the 13th century and then when the island fell into the hands of Lucinians of France the Commander Louis de Magnac reconstructed the castle, the castle was also property of the Comaro Family and its actually this castle which gave its name to our local wine Commandaria.
