One of the largest counter-terrorism trials in the UK has ended with men convicted of involvement in training camps around the country. Turkish Cypriot Atilla Ahmet, 43, of Bromley, Kent, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey in September 2007 to three counts of soliciting to murder in connection with Hamid's camps and home talks. Other charges were to lie on file. Ahmet will be sentenced at a later date Also a preacher and a long-term friend of Hamid, he was the official leader of the group born and raised in south London. The father of four worked as a football coach before embracing radical Islam in 1998. His hatred of kuffars, or non-Muslims, was matched only by his contempt for "munafiqs", the Arabic word for hypocrite, which he used to describe any moderate Muslim who did not back his agenda. Tanzanian, Mohammed Hamid, 50, of Hackney, east London, was the leader of the training camps. He was found guilty of three counts of soliciting murder and three counts of providing terrorist training. He was found not guilty of two counts of soliciting murder, one count of providing weapons training and possessing a record containing information likely to be useful to a terrorist. EOKA ASSAULTS The first secret talks for EOKA, a terrorist organization established to destroy the Turkish public in Cyprus and integrate the island to Greece, were started in the chairmanship of Makarios in Athens on 2 July 1952. In the aftermath of these meetings, a "Council of Revolution" was established on 7 March 1953. The founders of the council took the following oath for ENOSIS: "I swear to God that I shall remain secretive about what I do and shall know about the ENOSIS cause even when I am exposed to torture and death. I shall unconditionally obey the orders". In early 1954, secret weaponry shipment to Cyprus started to the knowledge of the Greek government. A terrorist named Grivas covertly disembarked on the island on 9 November 1954. Grivas further stated that he was called by Makarios to Cyprus to manage EOKA in a letter dated 4 June 1959 and that the Church made financial assistance to the terrorist organization for weapons. The EOKA militants killed 100 British citizens and hundreds of Greek cypriots apart from slaughtering hundreds of Turks, burning down 30 Turkish villages and forcing the villagers to migrate. In 1963, EOKA restarted (EOKA-B) its acts, killing over 500 Turks, burning down 103 Turkish villages and forcing tens of thousands of Turks to migrate, killing 2.000 Greek cypriots.

EUobserver / Brussels (16th January 2012) - Dutch MEP Ria Oomen-Ruitjen stressed that more reforms needed to be made in Turkey before it could come near EU membership criteria. Upon presentation of the latest EU progress report on accession talks, the centre right MEP said that Turkey would not only have to reach the Copenhagen membership criteria but also respect all European legislation. The terrorist organisation PKK is a major bone of contention according to Oomen-Ruitjen. "They beat me with a shovel, they pulled my teeth out with pliers, they would go like this and pull it," said Khidir, now 8, demonstrating with his hands. "This is where they hammered a nail into my leg and then they pulled it out," he says, lifting up his pant leg to show a tiny wound. What followed was even more horrific, an ordeal that would last for two years in captivity. Khidir and his father spoke to CNN recently, more than half a year after his rescue by Iraqi police. He says his captors also pulled out each of his tiny fingernails, broke both his arms, and beat him repeatedly on the side of the head with a shovel. He still suffers chronic headaches. He remembers them laughing as they inflicted the pain. "I would think about my mommy and daddy," he replies, when asked how he managed to get through the agony.....

Following the Lausanne Treaty, the 'Armenian Issue' ceased to exist. However, the Armenians of Diaspora, clinging firmly to their allegations, unleashed a series of terrorist attacks on Turkish diplomatic missions abroad as of 1970. All these attacks were masterminded by ASALA for short, the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia. Under a mask of independence, ASALA carried out ruthless and dastardly attacks. Psychologically and logistically supported by the Hinchaks, ASALA engaged in acts of terror against Turkish diplomats, representation offices and other organizations. These armed assaults rapidly escalated in a short period of time. Armenians who had assured bases for their activities in both Europe and the East, Syria and Lebanon in particular, continued their acts of terror in collaboration with Greeks and Greek Cypriots. As a result of the world wide repercussion of these armed attacks on Turkish diplomats, Armenian terror organizations changed tactics in the 1980's and began this time to collaborate with the separatist terror organizaion PKK, and later abandoned the scene to this organization. Having proclaimed the period between April 21 and 28, 1980 as the 'Red Week', the PKK started organizing meetings to commemorate April 24 as the so-called 'Armenian Genocide Day'.
