This is a clip from RIK news 23/01/09 that includes the interview on Turkish television with actor Attila Olgac in which he admits that during the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974 he cold-bloodedly murdered 10 Greek Cypriot prisoners. Later, in the RIK news clip Olgac retracts his confession. Go and kill in real life'. This is such a terrible thing. For a certain period, you live with the shock. You can't grasp if it's reality, or a game, but when you see people die left and right, when you see the scenes you feel a terrible fear. After, you get used to it and you become a killing machine. Without thinking about it. All you do is kill. FIRST WOMAN: Did you kill? OLGAC: Of course. I killed 10. FIRST WOMAN: You killed 10 people? OLGAC: Yes. After I returned [from Cyprus], for a long time I couldn't eat meat because I continuously saw corpses, reeking corpses. The Greek Roman influence is evident throughout Cyprus but especially at the archeological sites like Kourion, which is an ancient city kingdom. The Amphitheatre is the star attraction and there is concerts, shows and plays here held throughout the summer months. The city has passed through different phases from Roman, to Christian periods and it has a very large market place within the city walls. For the first time in Hollywood film production the use of the Cypriot vernacular features in the new production: Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest. As if mimicking the Cyprus problem, two pirates on a ship at sea are arguing, one in Cypriot Greek (Kypriaka) and the other in Cypriot Turkish (Kıbrıslıca) over a hat. In the end, the two are swallowed completely by a mythical giant squid -- the kraken. British actor of Turkish Cypriot descent Nej Adamson who previously played Ali Osman in EastEnders in the 1980s plays the role of the pirate who speaks in Cypriot Turkish, while Jimmy Roussounis, a Greek Cypriot actor plays the second pirate who speaks Cypriot Greek. The two men who have never met each other before went to St.Vincent Island in the Caribbean to film the movie. The two Cypriot actors were initially meant to perform in Greek and Turkish until Roussounis suggested that, "instead of speaking in Turkish or Greek or English with an accent", that the two men should do it in their natural Cypriot vernacular, one in Cypriot Greek and the other in Cypriot Turkish. The director agreed, allowing the two men who did not have a script, to "improvise," as long as there was no cursing. Roussounis -- who acted in Panicos Chrysanthou's film Akamas, which appeared at the September 'New Horizons' section of the Venice Film Festival was not sure whether the director of the film would keep the scene. A Turkish actor by the name Attila Olgac admits publicly on the Turkish TV having commited a crime of war. More specifically, he narrates how he was ordered to kill 10 unarmed prisoners of war during the Turkish invasion in Cyprus in 1974. Among the victims was a 19 year old youth, the first to be shot, who spat on his face a moment before dying. Organizers of a Lebanese women-only aid ship which plans to break the Gaza blockade announced on Thursday they will sail to Cyprus on the first leg of their journey this weekend. "The ship Mariam will leave for Cyprus on Sunday at 10 pm (1900 GMT) from the port of Tripoli" in north Lebanon, organizer Samar al-Hajj told reporters outside the port. The Mariam, a Bolivian-flagged cargo ship, plans to carry aid to Gaza in a bid to break the four-year inhumane siege of Gaza with 50 Lebanese and foreign women activists on board. The Mariam, renamed in honor of the Virgin Mary, would need Cypriot authorization to depart for Gaza from its shores but officials in Cyprus have said the island was keeping in place a ban on ships departing for Gaza. "The Cypriot ambassador to Lebanon tried to convince us not to go and reiterated that his country would not grant us authorization to sail to Gaza," Hajj told AFP. "But we are adamant," she added. "We have no arms and we will go to Gaza." The "Naji al-Ali," another Lebanese boat organized by journalists and originally named Julia, has also announced it would sail to Gaza via Cyprus but has not yet received clearance from Lebanese authorities
