About seven years ago the news went around the world and all over the net. National Geographic published an article on their web site and had plans to cover the whole story and follow up with more invertigations. In 2005 they walked out of the deal. Some say it had to do with Cuba/USA relationship and other believe it goes "DEEPER" than that. Paulina says she needs $2000000.00 to go back and drill through the pyramids and see what is inside. She wants to recover artifacts. She has now moved over to other projects near Mexico because she needs to make a living.

The summer course of biblical geography and archaeology in Jerusalem is now underway.... a full month of lessons, meetings and visits allowing students of biblical theology from Italian universities to acquire a hands-on experience of learning in the land of the Bible. The study comprises two areas: the study of Biblical Hebrew, and Biblical geography and archaeology. The courses, organized by the Franciscan Biblical Study in collaboration with the Departments of Theology from Milan, Lugano, the Pontifical Gregorian University and the Angelicum in Rome, have 35 participants, including 4 professors and 20 graduate students from 12 different countries. One of those graduate students is Yosvany Carvajal, a Biblical Theology expert from Cuba: "We expect to get the most out of all the resources here, -- and in particular the Franciscan school which has a great knowledge of archaeology and very profound knowledge of the holy sites - to increase to the maximum of all that is here. We want to take the greatest advantage of all this knowledge in order to be able to teach it in our countries." A main characteristic of the courses is to have teachers from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds - among them, Israeli Jews, religious and laity of the leading universities in the country, Christian teachers, Franciscans and Dominicans and a Muslim archaeologist. "We want to help young people grow, give them an example of sincere cooperation and friendship between Jews and Christians ...

This underwater footage was taken in December 2010 on the Storm Wreck, a shipwreck site off St. Augustine believed to date to the late 18th or early 19th century. Visible is a large, bronze ship's bell, several iron cannon, two copper cauldrons, and a scatter of bricks and corroded iron artifacts. This shipwreck is being excavated by underwater archaeologists from LAMP, the Lighthouse Archaeological Maritime Program, in St. Augustine, Florida.

From Huffington Post (www.huffingtonpost.com archaeologists have found the ruins of an ancient city on the bottom of the Caribbean Sea, and researchers claim that it is the fabled and lost city of Atlantis. The satellite photos do show something that could be a city, and the researchers believe that what they've found would predate the pyramids of Egypt. Indeed they claim to be able to make out a pyramid and other city-like structures from the satellite photos. The archaeologists have so far refused to divulge their identities or the location in the Caribbean. They say they are raising money for an expedition to confirm their findings.

It was among these shoals and hidden reefs that all 19 ships of the New Spain Fleet, under the command of Admiral Manuel Serrano, foundered and sank during a storm in 1631. Due to the threat posed by the reefs and islands of the Campeche Bank, the names and approximate locations of these ships appear on the earliest maps of the New World; yet they are among the least explored areas within the Gulf of Mexico. Over the past several years, Dr. Pilar Luna Erreguerena has carried out research regarding the New Spain Fleet in the archives of Spain, Cuba, and Mexico. She and her team from the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) have identified 24 sites and recorded 150 targets along the Campeche Bank, the majority of which still await inspection. The treasure galleon Nuestra Señora del Juncal remains elusive. In 2008, the Waitt Institute for Discovery partnered with Mexicos National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) for this exploratory survey of Campeche and Chinchorro Banks. DP08-002 Complete amphora is half buried; handles not visible. Bulbous body with rounded transition between shoulder and body. Thick sylindrical neck with slightly flaring rim. Anemone attached near base. Toe not visible. Smooth surface and classicizing shape suggests Classical or Hellenistic date. DP08-003 Fragment of the lower half of an amphora, with body sherds broken off and resting inside the shell of the fragment. The larger fragment is partially buried. Shape and fabric similar to DP-08-002 above. Their positions (a few cm apart) indicate the same provenience. Probably an early- to mid-Byzantine date. Complete amphora; bottom third buried. Cylindrical body ending in rounded bottom. No handles visible. Neck and mouth covered with anemones, thus hiding diagnostic features. Fabric and shape suggest an early to mid-Byzantine date.

The CITY OF WASHINGTON ran aground on Elbow Reef, six miles off Key Largo, FL on 10 July 1917. Originally built as a steamship in 1877, the vessel had been converted to a barge and was under tow towards Havana, Cuba when it struck the reef. It is now protected by the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary where it is part of the sanctuary's Shipwreck Trail.
