Creole Choir of Cuba's finale to the lotusfest.org 2011 Lotus World Music & Arts Festival. The choir exits the Buskirk Chumley Theater stage, shaking hands with their audience while serenading them one last time as they exited the theater. The Choir - five men and five women - hail from beautiful Camagüey, Cuba's third city, an old colonial town, designated a UNESCO World heritage Site in 2008 for its iconic architecture. The Creole Choir of Cuba are called 'Desandann' in their home country which means 'descendants' and their songs tell the stories of their Haitian ancestors who were brought to Cuba to work in near slave conditions on the sugar and coffee plantations.

Honored to perform alongside Cuban Jazz Musicians: MARACA, Intikana was able to rock a crowd of over 5000!!! For more info on Intikana, please visit www.intikana.net MARACA is an Afro-Cuban Jazz band led by international award winning flutist Orlando "Maraca" Valle. When he was ten years old, Maraca began studying the flute at the "Manuel Saumell" Conservatory. His professional career began in 1987 with the orchestra of Bobby Carcassés. Later on, he joined the group led by legendary Cuban pianist and composer Emiliano Salvador, whose experience constituted a remarkable influence for Maraca. In 1988, Maraca joined the Irakere Group as flute player, composer and arranger with whom he performed at the biggest jazz clubs and festivals across the globe for six years. Eventually, Maraca left the Irakere group to found his own jazz group called "Maraca" y Otra Visión. Two years later, his group was the only Cuban group participating at the MIDEM in Cannes, France, representing Cuban music. Their first CD, "Havana Calling", became a resounding hit and placed among the ten best records in 1997 according to "Latin Beat" Magazine. That same year, "Jazzman" from France, described him as one of the most important musical creators from Cuba, thus consolidating his vanguard position within Latin jazz. Orquesta Guamá is a Cuban Charanga orchestra based in the Los Angeles area, playing the classic styles of Salsa, Danzón, Chá-Chá, Merengues and Cumbias. Founded in 2003, Orquesta Guama is continuously making big waves on the Los Angeles music scene. Orquesta Guama is a unique, multi-cultural ensemble, represented by musicians of: Mexican, Cuban, Korean, Russian, Colombian,Puerto Rican, Peruvian and Anglo decent. Orquesta Guamá was founded by Ruben Rivas (El Caballero) and Alfredo Ortiz (Nino) in 2003 with some of the most talented young musicians. Since 2003 Guama has performed in LA/s top venues, including the Queen Mary Festival, El Floridita, The Granada, San Diego street festival. DFF reporting from Baila en Cuba 2011 festival! This is the 1st part of my little movie about the sixth world encounter of dancers of Casino and Salsa Dance Academies that was held in La Habana, CUBA on November 2011. This was a special occasion to obtain in-depth knowledge on Cuban salsa and other rhythms, and an opportunity to attend classes and master lectures, short courses and workshops on choreography, to enjoy dancing with the best musical groups and the performances by guest dancing academies. It was an experience I'll never forget! The 7th edition of BAILA EN CUBA is scheduled for 2012, November 25-30: I'll be there for sure!
