| Gundulic's Dream By Croatian Painter Vlaho Bukovac / Bacchanal By Mato Celestin Medović Duration : 29 Seconds This is just a very brief close up view of the famous painting "Gundulic's Dream" by Croatian painter Vlaho Bukose I'm not sure if it was allowable to film the works of art.) This painting of famous Croatian poet Ivan Gundulic, his others works, as well as the works of other famous artists is currently on display at the Modern Art Gallery in Zagreb. The first thing one notices once standing in front of it for the first time is it's size. Photos on the internet don't do it justice, as well as give the impression that it is an average size painting. I'm not sure, but it must be in the 8' x 10' range. Upon a closer look at the detail, use of colour and brush strokes, a newer appreciation of the finished painting is found. Also, one can get a brief look at "Bakanal" by Croatian painter Mato Celestin Medović More info: en.wikipedia.org en.wikipedia.org en.wikipedia.org www.moderna-galerija.hr Tags :Gundelic's Dream, Gundelicev San, Vlaho Bukovac, Ivan Gundulic, Modern Art Galley Zagreb, Croatian Artists, Famous Paintings, Mato Celestin Medović, Bacchanal, Bakanal

| | Croatian Naive Art Duration : 213 Seconds "In Croatia the concept of the Naive assumes the work of artists who arrived from amateurism, people who are more or less self-taught, painters and sculptors who did not obtain their education by systematic training at art schools and academies, which did not, however, prevent them from creating their own style, achieving their own level of art. An identifiably individual style and an individual poetics that is always there pick the Naive out quite clearly from the various examples of amateurism and dilettantism, from "Sunday" and "vernacular" painters and sculptors, and from all the rest of the undifferentiated mass of the self-taught. Since the artists of the Naive do not know how to construct a work according to the lessons of the academies, there are always certain departures in their works in proportions and perspective, and numerous "illogicalities in form and space. A positive evaluation of such characteristics, as the expression of the free creative imagination, could come into being only after Symbolism, Expressionism, Cubism, Surrealism and the other movements and phenomena of the Modern Movement had already been experienced. This clearly shows that the Naive is also a 20th century form of expression and is in key with the modern sensibility." | | Vlaho Bukovac - (1855-1922) Duration : 216 Seconds ''Sav svijet mi je svjedokom da izvan Zagreba ne osramotih hrvatskog imena i hrvatske umjetnosti. '' Vlaho Bukovac Music - Wonderland by Maksim Mrvica '' Vlaho Bukovac was born in Cavtat, Croatia and lived in America, Paris, Zagreb and Prague. He spent extended periods in England and Vienna. Wherever talented painter Vlaho Bukovac (1855-1922) settled, he soon enjoyed fame and recognition. He staged successful exhibitions at several Paris Salons, the first Vienna Secession exhibition, the second and fourth Venice Biennale and the Paris World Exposition in 1900.Beside being an artist who followed the established canons dictated by the Salon and the general public, there was another Bukovac who followed his own inner impulses of artistic creation. Liberated artistic expression, which was called impressionism, developed in the spirit of the artists who kept gathering in modernistic-oriented marginal galleries in the Paris of the 1870s. He knew the spirit of academism and, on the other hand, he felt the spirit of impressionistic freedom. Having accepted modern principles, Bukovac painted casual pictures, using liberated strokes of the brush, in the pointillist technique. He is now regarded as Croatias leading artist of the late 19th century. Bukovac was one of the few Slavonic artists to study at the École des Beaux Arts under the famous Alexandre Cabanel and the 1882 Salon was a real triumph for him. He showed La Grande Iza, a nude portrait of a coquettish Parisian woman ... | | LIDIJA SELER Duration : 520 Seconds * Pictures at an exhibition * Lidija Seler is a Croatian painter that, without any great declarations and self-promotion, emerged on Croatian art scene at the beginning of 1990s. Lidijas works possess a refined sense for line, graphism, textured layers and vibrant surface of the work. Her painterly concepts emerged as a new, independent phase of her artistic growth, detached from the heritage of the great ancestors of Croatian art scene. Lidija Seler belongs to that type of artist who creates exclusively in accordance with personal motivation and emotional set-up, creating her own soul landscape with each new painting that depending on the selection of colour and intensity of gesture always vibrates on a certain, slightly different emotional frequency. There is no crack, no gap, no energetic disharmony or disbalance between Lidija Selers sensibility and character of her paintings. Processuality is one of the most prominent components of the painting techniques of Lidija Seler, as none of her paintings are created in a short fragment of time, in a single breath; the artist often returns to already finished works, subtly or more dramatically changing the configuration of the micro cosmos of each painting. The superficial observer would be tempted to call the paintings of Lidija Seler as analytical, but her propensity to deconstruct the world into subtle fragments and to re-assemble them reconstructing and transforming visible external patterns according to the inner mood of ... | | "Metalwood" experimental Clip about the art of ljubo de Karina Duration : 147 Seconds Audiovisual Interpretation of the art of Ljubo de Karina, Croatian Sculptor. In some videos tried to put the meaning of his Metal and Wooden Art into my audiovisual world. Main goal was to put the static character of the "paintings" into an audiovisual continuum emphasizing moods, movements and my individual perception. iḿ still working on a symbiosis of performing and fine arts and so far i did not find any other known approach to combining sculpturing with video and audio art in synthesis. So here we go. I like to thank ljubo de karina (living near Brsec in a wonderful private gallery) for his wonderful spirited and overwhelmingly art and knowledge about kvarner and croatian history. In my view he is one of the most recognizeable southeast european artists.
