More problems with the motorcycle, what do you expect after nearly 60000 miles on the road. I fix my wheels (again) and push on through Venezuela and back into Colombia completing my original dream, to visit all 23 mainland countries of North & South America. On arriving in Bogota I just need to organise a flight for me and the motorcycle to Panama City. I ride and I record. There's no editing of video's when I'm back at home, my video's are all edited on the road because I want to share my experiences as they happen, so... Follow my journey through North, Central and South America. I've jacked in the job, packed my life into a pair of panniers and a roll bag and tied them down to a BMW F650 Dakar. This is a compilation of several of the many variations of Spanish in Colombia as performed by comedians from the "La Luciérnaga" radio show in Caracol Radio. "La Luciérnaga" (meaning "the firefly") is a daily three-hour show of political satire and humor that has successfully run since 1992 on Caracol Radio, one of the main radio networks in Colombia. All female voices in the clip are performed by Alexandra Montoya. The male voices include Pedro González and Óscar Monsalve. As in most societies, language variations in Colombia depend not only on geography, but also on age and socioeconomic status. Bogotá and Medellín, the two most populous cities in Colombia, are large enough to contain several distinct Spanish accents that can be easily identified by all Colombians. The linguistic case to call these variations "dialects" (as opposed to simply "accents") is hard to make, given that there are neither grammatical distinctions nor broad vocabulary differences among them, only variations in pronunciation. A consequence of this is that all Colombian accents are mutually intelligible. There are two main Colombian Spanish accents conspicuously missing from this ensemble. Colombia, officially the Republic of Colombia, is a constitutional republic in northwestern South America. This clip was shot in the South of Colombia after four days of torrential rain. I was riding from Tierradentro to San Agustin and had to cross this slippery and swaying bamboo bridge with my bike fully loaded because the regular road bridge had collapsed or washed away. The river water was a matter of inches beneath me, and I wasn't happy about making the crossing but some Colombians at the entrance to the bridge encouraged me to attempt it. The purpose of the trip was to take amazing photos of the diverse culture in the coffee region of Colombia. Coffee farmers, goldminers, models, hot thermals, indigenous indians, soldiers and countless interesting people were photographed.
