Details of the findings were published in the latest issue of the Geological Bulletin of China. The recently discovered dinosaur track site has a large concentration of dinosaur tracks preserved in many ways. The footprints weren't the only find. [Xie Xianming, Mineral Division, Chongqing]: "Apart from dinosaur footprints, we've also found impressions of dino-skin. They might be left when dinosaurs were lying down and at rest. The tracks of skin are very distinguishable." It's believed that humans inhabited the Lotus Mountain Fortress at the dinosaur track site for at least 700 years. This estimate is based on inscriptions found in the area which can be traced to the Song Dynasty.

Among them were mural paintings from Gandhara, an ancient kingdom where Buddhism flourished. Police in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region have recovered over 3600 historical relics from China's western region. [Wu Xinhua, Chinese Academy of Sciences]: "All the recovered Gandhara-style mural paintings were found in this area, southeast of Damagou. This is the earliest Buddhist monument site in Hetian, with all kinds of mural paintings and Buddhist temples in it. These Gandhara-style mural paintings were found for the first time in China and all over the world." Over the past few years, grave robbers swarmed into Damagou where archeologists discovered the largest site of Buddhist temples in the Taklamakan Desert. According to local police, robbers stole the valuable relics and destroyed the site. Gandhara, the name of an ancient kingdom where Buddhism was quite prevalent, combined the essence of Hellenism and Greco-Roman culture. Yungang Grottoes, one of the four most famous grottoes in Shanxi Province, is one typical styles of work from Gandhara.

The Penang State Tourism, Development and Culture dept, recently organised a "China Cultural Festival" at the Esplanade. The objective is to foster better ties and bi-lateral relations with China especially in the tourism industry. This is the first ever China cultural festive to be held in Penang and according to Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng, it may grow to become another annual signature event in the state, in the like of the ever successful Bon Odori festival which attracted a record high of more than 70, 000 last July. In his opening speech, CM Lim Guan Eng have much praises for Penang. He quoted international recognition, eg "Bloomberg", the economist news site, commented favourably on Penang's economic performance. "Lonely Planet", a travel magazine puts Penang's Cheong Sze Fatt mansion as top 2 greatest mansions and grandhouses in the world. Even Penang assam laksa is ranked 7th most delicious food in the world. The CM added that these are indicators that Penang is moving in the right direction.

Estimates put at more than 1.2 million Tibetans, one-fifth of the country's population. Over 6000 monasteries, temples and other cultural and historical buildings were destroyed and their contents destroyed or pillaged. The Chinese Cultural Revolution was launched by Communist Party Chairman Mao Zedong in 1966. It was an attempt to rid China of so-called capitalist roaders and to restore Maos power within the party. In the end, the Revolution intended to save the country ultimately destroyed it. The Cultural Revolution eliminated the freedom of people all over China for a time span of over 10 years and greatly injured the country both economically and culturally; from this we can learn that stifling a groups free will can have negative effects on the stability of the entire country. During the Cultural Revolution many pieces of art and historically significant artifacts were destroyed; this was a severe blow to Chinas culture. One of the first victims of the Cultural Revolution was a play. Hai Rui Dismissed from Office depicted a man who criticized the emperor as a hero. When the Cultural Revolution began, this play was seen as an attack on Mao and its author was imprisoned.
