The site is on the edge of a plateau that dominates the plain of Cambodia. These buildings make up the sanctuary that are dedicated to Shiva. The temple dates back to the first half of the 11th century AD. The site is exceptional for three reasons: its natural situation on a promontory, with sheer cliffs overlooking a vast plain and mountain range; the quality of its architecture adapted to the natural environment and religious function of the temple; and, the exceptional quality of the carved stone ornamentation of the temple.

Several hundred Cambodians took part in a celebration Thursday at Preah Vihear Temple along the Thai border. Three years ago, UNESCO designated the spectacular stone structure as a 'world heritage' site, one of more than 900 around the world. VOA Khmer's Vong Dara reports from the temple.

During the little bit of downtime they had from the children at Cambodian Heritage Camp in Colorado... Sovina, Chakriya, and Thyda decided to serenade Sal and Cham with one of Sin Sisamouth's classics... a Khmer oldies "Ai Nah Tov Tansour?" ("Where is Heaven?" in Khmer) The entire thing was totally improv (if you didn't notice) and no one in this video had ever discussed or planned any of it although it might have seemed rehearsed. I think it just goes to show how much chemistry they all have with each other! :D PS The girl in the Britney Spears TShirt did NOT mean to push dude off the stool THAT hard... promise! ;)
