Fashion Show, University of Warwick 2008 - the first ever performance of the Bulgarian Society at the biggest student-run festival in Europe. An amazing experience, showing an exciting mixture of Bulgarian traditional dancing and costumes. The songs are "Water" by Elitsa and Stoyan (the Bulgarian song on Eurovision 2007) and "White rose" by Slavka Kalcheva - infamous Bulgarian folk singer.

Bulgarian Jews completely assimilated to European society with the exception of during WWII. The survival of the whole Jewish community is an amazing phenomenon. There is also the example of the Danish community saving over 99% of their Jewish citizens during the holocaust, however, Denmark was an occupied state, where Bulgaria was an aligned Nazi state. In this event, 50 citizens engage in facilitated deliberations on how they want to make their voice heard in and be engaged in EU policy making. The group of citizens taking part in this one-day event comprise: • 45 randomly selected citizens, representing different regions, age groups, genders and occupations, and • 5 citizens recruited from among those who already have experience of participative processes, including from EU-wide projects (such as European Citizens Consultations or Tomorrows Europe ). The national citizens panel is opened by a public figure. Participants are given brief, accessible information about how the European Union and its institutions currently work, as well as insights into some of the processes and practices previously used to engaged citizens at the European level. A panel discussion with experts on EU policy making and on citizen participation, together with citizens with experience of participative processes bring this information to life for citizens. At the heart of the event are the citizens deliberations. In small, facilitated groups they work to identify their shared wishes and ideas for participation in EU decision making. Participants are able to deal with more than the one issue being dealt with in depth at their table by rotating with other groups, thus enabling agreement and ideas from the whole group to be identified and shared. Bulgarian Stuttering Association SIZ (until March 2004 NASIZ) is a non-profit organization of people who stutter, whose number in Bulgaria is over 70000. NASIZ was founded in 1992. Our mission is to provide information about stuttering, its therapy and everything, related to the problem, to people, who stutter, parents of children, who stutter, as well as to the whole society. To inspire with more self-confidence people, who stutter, to show, that stuttering is not a defect but a peculiarity of the way of speaking, to promote the problem and to educate tolerance towards it.Our vision is a society, in which people who stutter do not feel ashamed and guilty, because of their stuttering. A society which accepts people who stutter the way they are people like all the others, deserving respect like anyone else.

I don't know if the five pointed star shows up on the video but I believe it belongs to the Jesuit faith which is what I based my suggestion on. During WW2, Bulgaria had originally sided with Germany, but then switched on discovering that Russia was on the opposite side; I mention this because there is graffiti of crossed out swastikas. In Sofia, someone told me that graffiti has been a phenomenon of the last 10 years. I have observed the swastika symbol on bus windows and in other places. However, this was the first time I've seen it with the line cutting across it; this may reflect changing sentiments, etc.
